I love Howard's size, speed, hands and athleticism. He also blocks really well, so he'll be on the field a LOT. I hope most of my leaguemates are also afraid of drafting a TE in the first round.

Rookie picks are so unreliable overall, you've got to go for the home run. Take Howard & have no regrets.

Or, what if I told you I know other owners in my league read these threads and I want them to get the idea that I am buying OJ at 1.07, so they jump in-front of me and let someone else fall to 1.07 instead?

Kind of defeats the purpose by typing this don't you think?
Or maybe some reverse-reverse psychology at play here?

Bucs ran 418 2 TE sets last year with Cameron Brate and Stocker et al., which is about 26 plays a game .. think the nfl avg of offensive plays a game is around 59 ..

He'll be a starter Day 1 ..

He might not be there when you pick at 1.07.

Stacked championship like teams should look at him pretty hard :)

I've been flipping off Cam Newton every time I see him yelling Famous Jameis has his own Greg Olsen now ....**@$%#$@ (true story).

Everett in the 3rd is much better value. Similar fantasy upside. Don't pay a premium for Howard's blocking ability.

I've put my cents in another thread regarding this but will sum it up with...
-takes forever for ROI
-essentially has to be a top 4 to ever be worth where you drafted him
-must be gronk or graham to ever be worth significantly more
-position just isn't super important when compared to having to start 2-4 rbs and 2-5 wrs
-college production sucks so not a cant miss prospect.

See, I'm to the point where I feel like all the remaining RB/WRs left at 1.07 carry more risk than OJ at 1.07. You know he will be on the field a lot and he's in a good offense that likes to throw the ball and targets TE. He has all the arrows pointing in the write direction, he's just in a position that isn't valuable in most fantasy football leagues. That's what makes it hard for me to pay the price for him.

Not sure I'm a fan that LA took him so early (just from a draft sense) and he has baby midget hands....would have preferred them taking Jonnu Smith TBH. However, opportunity will be there for Everett but he could easily be the 3Year tight end project. :wall:

I'd try to find a TE needy team and trade back and pick up another pick or player. It's a deep draft and that's the perfect spot to do it from, if you're not convinced.

I'm stuck with the 1.07 as well and having the same issue. It's the worst spot because it's too early to grab a back in the 2nd tier. There's Ross or Howard and grabbing a TE in the 1st is too unpredictable regardless of pedigree or skill. It's more or less can you convince yourself that this is the next Gronk or a once a 10 year TE? Hmmm, those odds are not the best.

The next thing you have to ask yourself is if Hunt, Kamara, or Perine end up with the job and pull a year 2 Devonta Freeman on you, how are you not gonna shoot yourself in the foot there? :/ THAT will hurt you more than not having an Olsen or Reed on hand.

When the 1.07 comes around for me, I might have to go for the possible starting back. Even if I have to wait.

Its not as much as selling me on Oj at 1.07 as it is to sell me on somebody, anybody else there.

If this draft were as deep as some insisted, we wouldn't be discussing three Tight Ends as first round picks. Very disappointing.
