Combine?! Dante Pettis is an crazy athlete just saying. 41 inch vertical, 6.73 3-cone, 4.47 40 and 129 in. broad jump. He's also an amazing route runner and is only 23 (same age as Deebo)... I'd say he has time.

Don’t see him as amazing route runner at all. Rounds off a lot and gear changes are close to non existent Imo.

I avoided him in all drafts due to these issues.

Agree he has time but he doesn’t play very fast at this point. Single speed player. Think he is more a WR2 type on his team. Better DB’s will shut him down.

Just not the type of player I like for fantasy.

I really don’t see how you can say he’s not a great route runner? That seems pretty cut and dry when watching him. He’s not necessarily as explosive or herky jerky as Tyreek or AB when he’s in space, but when running routes, he is electric. Gets instant separation from defenders, puts DBs on skates consistently, etc.

He may be a head case with teammates and coaches, he may not care enough about football to be great in the pros, and he may be a diva or mentally unstable. Who knows. We certainly can’t know.

But he is extremely polished as a route runner.

28 career receptions. I spent hours evaluating this player when he came out.

The narrative is he is a good route runner. He isn’t extremely polished or amazing. He doesn’t have amazing moves and has a few tells in his games good DB’s will pick up on.

Not saying sell but amazing or even extremely polished is a reach imo.

Go back and study more plays not just the highlights. He is simply not an aggressive player play over play and that does show up on tape.

He could develop but I will be surprised if he ever becomes a stud in fantasy. Perhaps a WR3 on a fantasy team.

Time will tell. Never owned him and he will have to demonstrate major strides before I invest in him personally.

Honestly I'd be thrilled if he turned into a WR3, that's not a bad thing considering where he's at right now

Dante Pettis was held without a catch in Week 2 against the Bengals.

Pettis played more snaps than last week, but he was still rotating as the No. 3 receiver behind Deebo Samuel and Marquise Goodwin. Despite the coaching staff talking up his role, he was invisible for the second straight game. With Samuel breaking out and Trent Taylor getting close to returning, there not much to be optimistic about with Pettis right now.

Excuse me? He 31.6% dominator rating is better than Mike Evans, Jeremy Maclin, Doug Baldwin, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith (the future HoFer), Mike Wallace, Steve Johnson & Santana Moss.

His 20.9 BA is a little more of a problem as it’s only better than Brandon Marshall, Michael Thomas, Steve Johnson, Greg Jennings & Dwayne Bowe.

Just for reference, the reason I pulled these guys is because I have a list of all the guys that have been a top thirty fantasy receiver at least three times with their analytic numbers. While the numbers aren’t great for Pettis, I’m not sure the numbers suggest he’s a bust.

I did the same thing with BA, DR, Career DR, workout metrics, and draft capital. And it created a successful model. Less than 20% of all the WRs to repeat as PPR WR2s don’t fit the model. I think it’s Doug Baldwin and Brandon Marshall. There may be one more. This model accounts for all the late college breakouts as well.

Hah any time an NFL team gives up on a player that is perceived to be too soon you can be sure the Patriots will consider kicking the tires on him. So yeah if Pettis remains in Shanahans doghouse I would not be surprised at all if he did end up in NE.

If I had to guess, I’d say it means that Pettis is playing timeshare on the Y receiver role. The Y receiver in the Shanahan offense has typically seen a lot of work blocking. Think Roddy White’s massive dropoff and then Sanu in Atlanta. Josh Morgan in Washington, Kevin Walter in Houston. If that’s the case, ugh...
