Preseason - Week 3

I don't expect Williams or Thompson to be the long-term guy there. I think Thompson's role will grow throughout the season, because you need RB depth and it's clear Hyde and Darrell Williams are not preferrable. But, I don't see him being able to take the lion's share of usage because he's not that type of player. Ultimately he's a smaller, lighter, and slower version of Williams. If both players cost an equal and affordable price, I think opinions would be more fairly aligned.

They have some skill overlap, which is good for Reid's offense to maintain the threat of the pass (both are plus receivers). I think that's the most important part of that duo. At best for Thompson, may he's a Tarik Cohen/Duke Johnson type of player in that offense.

It's hard for me to really care a ton about what Williams did in Miami as reason why he will be bad this season. He was never really given a shot there. He played behind Lamar Miller, Jay Ajayi, and Kenyan Drake for four seasons in meh offenses. So, no surprise he didn't do anything of note behind players Miami invested more capital and development time in. It's not like he was expected to jump them. Overall, he was efficient with his touches when he was there, so perhaps that's something that Reid and company saw, took advantage of, and because of Kareem's incident...here we are.

Last night's play just shows the upside of Williams. He's a +receiver out the backfield, has homerun speed, and can make defenders miss. The upside he has in this offense has league-winning potential. Reid trusted him to run the same routes they ran Hunt with and he killed on those, especially the wheel route. That's not changing.

Yep. I was shocked. I had traded away that 1.06 pick last year for Branden Cook’s and was glad to see that he ended up with Darwin. I will take that trade off any day of the week. Lol. I like Darwin and his potential but nowhere near the 1.06.
