He has no upside in Chicago. At best, you're talking about the 6th option in an offense that spreads the ball:

Robinson
Cohen
Gabriel
Miller
Burton

If he's used in the RZ, TD's would be extremely random and not have much overall yardage. You could hold for two more years and see what happens when he hits free agency, but that's not even a given to land him a significant role elsewhere.

Unless you're in a TE Premium league, he's probably a drop if you have bigger needs to address.

Appreciate the input. I don’t really have bigger needs to address honestly. My team is pretty good to be honest. I dropped Shaheen and took a flyer on Darrel Williams from KC, with the news on Hunt. May not amount to anything, but figured it was worth a shot over holding Shaheen.

I honestly wasn't aware he's been on IR most of this year. I wrongly assumed he'd been a healthy scratch most weeks. I take back what I posted.

No worries, and props to you for coming back and making this statement. I only know this because I have him on one of my teams. He’s still only a flier in deep TE premium leagues.

1 target for Burton this week vs, 2 targets for Shaheen - and his 2nd game with a converted red zone target. I think the Bears will give Shaheen several opportunities to become the 'lead' TE if they do not choose to go with more 2 TE type game plans (like Indy) - the key for him is to stay healthy and continue to develop.

The Curious Case of Adam Shaheen: Prognosis?

Postby jman3134 » Mon Aug 19, 2019 7:43 am

Any updates on this guy and his development? He was sidelined with injury issues and now he isn't getting consistent reps in the preseason. Are the Bears trying to hide their guy now that Burton is hobbled and Shaheen is finally healthy?

He just got released on our wire, and I am considering a pickup.

I think he was a project draft pick and he just hasn’t developed all the way yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is benched or cut or if he manages to carve out a little role this year. He appears to be on the traditional 3-4 year TE window for development.

And it's year 3 for him.

Maybe the injury sets him back one year? So he has 1-2 years to reach that window? Just thinking out loud.

He got released on our waiver wire, but I am not sure if he will flash this year. Probably can get him for pennies in a year.

He can't stay on the field, his talent doesn't stand out on paper, and he's not very good when he does play. Dime-a-dozen TE.

I cut bait on him. Just hard to envision holding him long enough to get any significant value out of him. Especially in a single start TE league. He's sat on the waiver wire since I released him.

I would leave him on the wire. He was an intriguing prospect until the Bears locked up Burton and other receivers. I was going to cut him but thankfully got an offer giving him and Bryce Love for Golden Tate.

Burton isn't really all that and he has a lot of nagging injuries. He probably doesn't need to be rostered at the moment but I wouldn't blame someone for holding. For reference I was hesitant to let go of Highbee in 12 team PPR and no one has grabbed him, it's been two weeks.

he was a reach of a pick when the bears took him. he had fantasy hype because he was being dubbed "mini gronk" and "gronk-lite" due to his athletic ability. but fact is he dommed fools at a small school and then wasnt dominant at the pro level.

also tight ends arent big fantasy producers anyway so i mean if he puts it all together and kills it we are lookin at a 600 yard 5 td player. last season only 8 tight ends reached 5 TD and only 17 Te hit 500 yards.
