SUSPENDED players on IR

I view IR spots for IR players only. The intent of it in my mind is to allow you to carry a player who is out for the year due to injury on your team without taking up a spot on your roster. I also do not believe in unlimited IR spots, but 3-4 spots depending on roster size (20-25) seems reasonable to me.

Suspensions and short term injuries I prefer not use IR spots for.

For me it's the same answer I always give in these threads. There shouldn't be an issue here, in the "real NFL" the functionality of a suspended player and an injured player are the same. The team retains the rights to both and neither count against the team roster, I'll never understand the venom that some folks seem to have towards the suspended players and the idea that the fantasy owner that has them should have to suffer for something even more out of their control than the actual team owner in the NFL! So in all leagues I commish IR is allowed to have suspended players as well as IR, PUP etc. To each their own though

I've never played in a league where this has been allowed. I would never use it either.

It’s up to the league, but I generally view it as suspended or IR, the player doesn’t count on an NFL roster, so if you’re using IR slots, why not allow it? If your argument centers around the fact that the slot is called injured reserve, that seems like pure semantics to me.

I prefer having it, but it's not a big deal either way.
A suspended player doesn't count toward an NFL team's 53, so it seems natural to follow that.

Im not sure why this question comes up. It's all personal preference. I think it's dumb to allow people not on IR onto IR in their league. It doesn't make sense to me, but if another league wants it that I'm not a part of because that's what they prefer, then that's fine.

have a somewhat similar situation with Telvin Smith- he's not injured but sitting out this year- MFL has him IR eligible- asked comish and he's fine with IR if MFL allows

That is basically my stance as well. Especially since we have no control over who gets a suspension or who tears an ACL. Tyreek Hill being a perfect example of someone many many owners expected at least a token suspension and nada.

What if a guy is injured and suspended? Antonio callaway is currently in a walking boot and won't get play in preseason. But then he is suspended for first couple of games. In our league u can put a guy in ir now and he must remain there for first 3 games of season.

Our rules weren't clear on this but commish said no to ir as suspended players should have to remain in active roster.

What is your league rules on callaway?

As I stated before, my two leagues have rules stating the player has to be on the injured list. That helps avoid gray areas and these issues. If the team hasn't placed him on the injured list, he cant go on your IR. It may not always seem fair, as I have had occasions where I have had to wait to put a player on my IR until the team actually does. Even if they are out for the season. But it does prevent loopholes or gray areas for debate.
