RBBC in Kansas City
RBBC in Kansas City
Reid almost never employs an RBBC, so this is big news imo. The value of D Williams goes down. Hyde goes up. Darrell Williams goes up. Thompson goes up.

But imo, the 2020 starter is probably not even in the NFL yet.

Chargers aren't trading Gordon in the division to their primary competition.

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
For historical purposes (while it's still fresh on the mind):
RIP to one of the more legendary DLF threads in recent years. About Damien Williams of all people. Gone but not forgotten. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=176808
Anyway. This sucks for Damien owners who were trying to sell but hadn't done so yet. I don't own Damien but if I did, I would just hold, cross my fingers and hope for the best. He could still be a legit fantasy RB for 2019. After that though...

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
Why post this thread when it was clearly debunked beyond any reasonable doubt in the other thread?
You can go read it there but Andy Reid claimed the exact same thing last season and then gave Damien Williams ~20 touches per game.
The average touches for an Andy Reid starting RB over the last 15 straight years is ~21 per game.
The range of touches per game for Andy Reid’s starting RBs has been ~17-24 per game. Over 15 straight years, that is the floor(17) and ceiling(24) for touches for an Andy Reid RB. That is since we entered the war in Iraq in 2003. Yeah.
The last 4 RB “seasons” for Reid in KC have seen the following touches per game; Ware 17, Hunt 20, Hunt 19, Williams 20.
There is ZERO argument that this could be an RBBC. Let me again preempt any bad faith argument that “well he said it,” by pointing out that he said the EXACT SAME THING in December before riding D Williams as he has every other starting RB he has had since roughly 10 years before he ever even became the Chiefs coach.

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
Just to test the value, a little while back I put Tyler Boyd in the inbox of the Damien Williams owner and he rejected, no counter. Some people are willing to die on these hills. Im ecstatic he rejected though.
Ive also got Thompson stashed in my home league and the DLF Early Bird's league. Hoping he pans out.

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
Personally I am a little disappointed, but not surprised, that the Damien Williams thread needed to be locked. I felt, in the midst of all the noise that plenty of good points were made by different people. Unfortunately sometimes the medium/way in which a message is made, is just as important at the message itself.
I also feel we tend to argue over sometimes minor differences as if the differences are the size of the grand canyon.
Case in point, what exactly will a RBBC mean in KC? If it means all 4 RBs get exactly 25% of the touches (carries & receptions), then yeah that is bad news. However that is rarely the case.
Speaking of that 2003 Eagles season that RBBC was not an even committee but might be the worst case scenario re: RBBC.
Buckhalter led in carries, but actually finished last in touches (140).
Westbrook led the committee in touches (165) thanks to leading in receptions, while Staley was last in carries, but also got enough receptions to equal Buckhalter in touches (143).
Buckhalter finished as RB34. Staley as RB27 and Westbrook as RB20 (PPR format).
While this is only speculation, it seems that Hyde might be the Buckhalter, Darwin Thompson as the Staley & Damien Williams as Westbrook (Darrell Williams would likely be Jon Ritchie).
If that is a worst case scenario for Damien Williams owners, that is not that bad. Westbrooks RB20 was good enough for 197 points, and in fact would have him as RB17 if his points were done in 2018.
An RB2 result for Damien Williams in an RBBC is not the end of the world, especially if this is a floor based on 16 games getting only 35-40% of the touches.
Obviously at the same time this is not ideal if you bought high on Damien Williams, or are/were drafting him high in re-drafts &/or startups. But any contending owner that added him cheaply, and has been holding rather than selling low, this is not a bad result, and again this is more of a pessimistic outcome based on the premise of a full blown RBBC.
If the RBBC ends up being more of Jordan Howard/Tarik Cohen type situation, with the other 2 backs only being used sparingly (or if injuries occur), then say Damien Williams getting 40% of rushing attempts & 60% of receiving targets (for RBs), could still potentially have him finishing as a low end RB1.
In the end Andy Reid could mean exactly what he says, and does intend to feature all four of the guys, if in different ways, but no plan survives the battlefield. In other words, what he may want to do, could easily be changed based on injuries, game outcomes and/or how one or more of the RBs are performing.
Which basically brings us full circle back to what everyone has been trying to do - figure out exactly what the projected production is likely to be for each guy, and how much should they spend if they want to own that piece.

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
Why? I value Boyd and Williams pretty equally. If I were set at WR and needed a RB to contend, I'd keep Williams as well.

Re: RBBC in Kansas City
I would buy Damien on this news if it drops his price below a 1st.
I don't think it's likely Hyde or Thompson keep Damien Williams from a 60% opportunity share. That's still an RBBC, but still enough opportunity for low end RB1 production this year.
