2020 RB landing spots
Looking ahead since we're still a month from the regular season
Everyone is excited about the 2020 class
(Focusing on RBs for the purposes of this post)
D'Andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor, Travis Etienne, Eno Benjamin, JK Dobbins - plenty to be excited about with regard to the prospects
What about the teams?
Which NFL teams are RB-needy?
Which teams are you most excited about (if they were to land one of the top 2020 RBs)?

needy:
Houston
TB
Maybe needy?
Jax? Chiefs? Wash? Atl? Buffalo? Ten? (Depending on how this year goes for these teams but wouldn't surprise me)
That's just quick off top of my head.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
My list of most likely + top landing spots:
1. Indy. We'll see if Mack establishes himself. Colts may not be able to pass on an elite runner in the late first round.
2. Houston. Lamar Miller is a free agent after 2019 season.
2. Green Bay. If they don't have a clear lead back at the end of this season, could happen. New coaching staff may want their own guy.
3. Tampa. Replacement level talent is there today. Yuck.
4. Baltimore. See Indy. 2020 rookie talent might be too much to pass up. Ingram may not work out.
5. Jacksonville. 2020 is the last year on Fournette's contract. Injury history.
6. San Fran. Good but not great backs there today. Again, 2020 talent is very good.

Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
Great question that should influence how we value current RB’s. KC, BUF, Miami, SF, TB, Houston a few of the logical destinations. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bears, Packers and possibly the Chargers look at RB too.
Re: 2020 RB landing spots
It is too early to tell for the most part.
Depending how things shake out, you could even find teams like the Rams, Chargers & Cowboys.
There are a lot of "what ifs" in trying to predict it right now.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
I've made it known what I think about RBs in KC, so that'd be an awesome landing spot to me.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
I would add Carolina, CMC can't do it all and no one behind CMC is worth much.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
I'd add Minnesota to this list if Dalvin can't stay healthy for more than 12 games again this season. I don't think they can rely on Mattison to shoulder a full work load.

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
I think you could talk your way into almost every team in the league being on this list at this point.
There are some obvious choices (Houston, TB, LAC if a Gordon deal doesn't work out), but if the class is full of good players, plenty of seemingly established vets with a year left on their deal will be at risk of a team drafting their replacement instead of extending them (Mack, Conner, A. Jones, Mixon as a few examples).

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
Ya, I think the Giants are the only team we can almost completely remove from the list of teams that could invest in a RB.
Re: 2020 RB landing spots
These things are hard to predict not only because so much changes in a year, but because NFL coaching staffs evaluate their position groups in ways that often seem mystifying to fantasy enthusiasts. GB's WR corps has stuck out as needing help since Jordy left so a lot of analysts had them as a favorite for an early-round WR in 2019, but they were content to stay put. Here's a list of the wideouts on the roster behind Adams who've ever had more than 40 catches 600 yards in a season: ________. NE feels like an example of this every year. Or you'll have occasions like the Texans, who many people look at as having real lack of depth at RB, releasing a recent third-round pick citing vague problems with work ethic. Or teams like PHI/SF who just keep adding to their RB room despite a wealth of options. Did anyone pick the Eagles to take an RB in the 2nd?
I agree with the logic of picks so far in this thread, but imo the best way to approach these kinds of questions is to focus analysis elsewhere.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they did something like take an RB people are high on in the 3rd.

TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert

Re: 2020 RB landing spots
Interesting you pick 40 & 600 as your marks since MVS had 38 & 581 last year. I'd say that's close enough. Funny the way you phrase it as if Jordy's been gone for years from the Pack; but, it's only been one year.Blueboy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:44 am These things are hard to predict not only because so much changes in a year, but because NFL coaching staffs evaluate their position groups in ways that often seem mystifying to fantasy enthusiasts. Re: 2020 RB landing spots
Giants could reasonably pass on QB as well.
People may find the highest drafted WR getting passes from Daniel Jones.
