Crabtree to the Cardinals!

Postby jordanzs » Mon Aug 05, 2019 4:12 pm

Perhaps they're just trying to play keepaway from other WR-needy teams?

This is a pretty random signing if you ask me. My best guess is the young guys are not developing as they hoped and want him to mentor them.

Not sure Crabman is the guy to "mentor" anyone. I feel the entire mentoring thing is blown way out of proportion. Crabtree will be going there with the intent of beating them out, not mentoring them IMO. Guys have a ton of pride in pro sports, Crabtree is going with the intent to be a starter and be productive IMO.

Maybe not mentor, but I’m sure he still knows the system from his days in Tech. Can’t hurt to have that around. There are definitely problems with Butler & Isabella having the drops. Will wait to see the contract structure before I assume too much out of that though.

Apparently Isabella has a minor right knee injury. Maybe they’re concerned it’s not so minor.

Yeah I don’t see this as a mentor hire. If they want a mentor, they already have THE best guy for it imo.

^ well put. At the very least this gives Arizona veteran with sure hands. It also could provide someone to push the rookies.

I was surprised to see an exclamation point on a thread about Michael Crabtree.

Maybe it's to give Murray (another) experienced WR to throw to as well? I'm sure the Cards are much more worried about their #1 picks progression than mid round rookie WRs.

Starting to get the avoid feeling from the Cards for this initial season. Might try to grab low on some of them through the season, but it's bound to be a weekly dice roll for points.

Then why did they wait this long? I think it may be the young guys are not ready.
