He's been better than I thought the past several weeks, but I still don't think he's much better than average. His usage has gone up a lot and that is something you want in a FF RB. I still have him in the RB15-20 range and would sell high this offseason if I had him anywhere.

Agree. Better than I thought but don't own him and never will in dynasty most likely.

I'm torn on what to do with Monty.

I have him on a rebuild as basically my only RB

(I say rebuild, but I just took 2nd place totally b/c of him (and opponent scoring luck).)

In this leagues' scoring (0.25ppr for RB, 0.5 ppr for WR), he was the RB1 weeks 12-16 with 25.8 per game (points for yardage is a little weird if you're doing the math). Totally carried me to a spot I didn't deserve. So I should be able to sell him high, right?

That said, what do I do when he's legitimately my only RB? (I'm rostering every RB I could get off of waivers)

Squad is below:
QB - Lock/Tua
RB - Montgomery, Gallman, Gus Edwards, McKinnon, Ito Smith, Breida, D'Onta Foreman
WR - AJ Brown, DJ Moore, J Jeudy, B Aiyuk, C Mims, M. Williams, S. Sheperd
TE - Hockenson
1.11, 2.11 and I think an earlyish 2, maybe 2.03
Mud Dogs 0.5PPR
QB (1) - C. Newton, D. Jones
RB (1) - T. Gurley, N. Chubb, C. Hyde, J. Howard, M. Ingram. J. McKinnon, D. Foreman
WR (3) - J. Jones, A. Brown, A. Cooper, L. Fitzgerald, D. Moncrief, T. Lockett, D. Johnson, Hardman
TE (1) - Kittle, Gesecki, Warring
Flex (1) - any r/w/t

The Brute Squad- PPR of 0.25 for RB, 0.5 for WR
QB (1) - Roethlisberger, Rivers
RB (1) - T. Gurley, L. Miller, D. Foreman, J. McKinnon
WR (3) - D. Hopkins, A. Jeffery, S. Shepard, J. Crowder, M. Williams, Humphries
TE (1) - Hockenson, Olsen, Pruitt, Warring
Flex (1) - any r/w/t

Macho Man Randy Savage (Full PPR)
QB (1) - Ryan, Darnold
RB (1) - Barkley, Hyde, Breida, Mack, McKinnon, Ajayi
WR (1) - OBJ, K. Allen, R. Cobb, Diggs, J. Brown, Sutton, Isabella, D. Samuel, Slayton
TE (1) - Kittle
Flex (2) - any r/w
Extra 2020 first

Depends on what you can get for him. Personally I'd sell at his current high. They'll be bringing in a new QB after Trub failed to make the postseason run. ARob likely on his way out. Cohen returning. The team is going to look different, but the staff still looks intact.
10-Team Dynasty League QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/FLEX (23 man rosters + 2 IR + 2 Taxi, non-PPR scoring)

WR: G.Wilson, Olave, Jeudy, Pittman, J.Williams, OBJ, N. Brown, JuJu,

I would also wanna sell high.

But 1.07 i quite low.
He is somewhat proven i would say he should at least equal Najee.
But I was hoping for higher.

With the Bears adding a promising QB in Justin Fields, and giving up plenty of draft capital to do it, I think this is a small bump for Montgomery.

A better passing game will open up the run game, and just like after the Trubisky & Mack trades, they have less capital to replace Montgomery.

The only downside is that Fields is a good runner and may steal some goal line TDs like Josh Allen.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

With Cohen on PUP, Damien Williams gets a boost as the handcuff to Montgomery/possible receiving back.

What's David Montgomery's value (out 4-5 weeks)

Postby dynastyninja » Tue Oct 05, 2021 9:37 am

I was a reluctant buyer of DMont this offseason but eventually was converted into a believer. Where does he rank among the RBs in dynasty? I was starting to think this week that he'd cement himself as a top-tier dynasty back, and then he got injured shortly after.

RB rankings are pretty weird for me right now, so it's hard to peg his value. There doesn't seem to be a consistent #1 RB, especially with CMC getting hurt again.

I have never believed he’s more than a serviceable try-hard starter (similar to Carson, Jordan Howard, James Conner)

If you get an offer equating to a mid-First I would take it unless you think you can still contend after waiting on him for a month or 2 until he’s ready.

Looks like he avoided severe injury, which is huge and shouldn't change his long term outlook. Hes in the second tier of RBs for me, bottom end RB1 or top end RB2. No1 in my leagues seems interested in buying for respectable value though.

Looks so much better as a runner this year. I was really trying hard to sell last season, but now glad I didn't after seeing his improvement. He looks quicker and more powerful, hard to tackle.

Long term, his value hasn't changed. If you are contending, I hope you have Williams. Otherwise, you may kick the tires to see what offers come in.

He's a good starting RB on a rookie deal, on a team with a lot of other needs. He should be their starter this year and next. He looked spry to me, this year.
