Re: Gronk retired
Speculation on my part, but I thought I heard Gronk talking some weeks ago about being a proponent of CBD and medical marijuana. And he wasn't happy with the current state of the NFL, where he could be suspended for using products like that for pain relief.
Interestingly enough, I was listening to John Clayton (formerly of ESPN) discuss some of the things he believed would find their way into the upcoming CBA this morning. Among them were a 17-game regular season schedule with two additional playoff games. And an allowance for the use of medical marijuana. Not sure how that would work, but maybe if the league changed the rules, Gronk would consider coming back down the road? Maybe?

Re: Gronk retired
Nah I think he's done, but leaving the door "open" is good for his brand. Even if he comes back he's not much of a fantasy asset anymore.

Re: Gronk retired
He's going to continue the routine of making announcements for his various business ventures
Re: Gronk retired
Yeah that is why I put big announcement in quotation marks - because I felt it was likely a tease. But I do not think he would tease if he did not have the idea to return down the road ... it will just be on his terms (if at all).

Re: Gronk retired
Has he formally filed the paperwork for retirement yet? Last I heard though he had "retired" he still hadn't formally filed with the league so that may still allow him a loophole to continue to exploit to "keep the dream alive" and keep attention focused on himself as long as possible this year

Honestly have no clue on the specifics. Reports are he can't return until after the SB, not sure of the fine print.BlackOmega wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 10:01 pmHas he formally filed the paperwork for retirement yet? Re: Gronk retired
Gronk has lost like 30 lbs and is hosting a big EDM party in Miami beach the day before the Super Bowl. It's been clear for months now that he's very happy being retired and not coming back, at least for this season.

Just because he hasn't filed papers doesn't mean a return is imminent, or even likely. Perhaps he just hasn't got around to it yet.
I wouldn't take this as a sign that he wants to continue his career. The paperwork is more of a formality/administrative thing. But it's not something that's even required anymore FWIW.

Re: Gronk retired
I don't think he's ever coming back. What incentive is there to return? Supposedly he's spent very little of his actual NFL earnings and has lived off his other deals.
He has a long injury history, the TE position is very demanding, and Brady looks like he's nearing the end. Gronk's already won SB's, he's going to be a 1st Ballot HOF, and there's really nothing else to accomplish.
Gronk is making good money to be a goofball and not get hit.
