Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
I was wondering what people think of him so far. I love the upside, guy is clearly talented, but there is always the off field concerns to worry about. Am I letting owner bias get the better of me or does he legitimately look like a future wr1?

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
Wr1 is awful hard to achieve. I think the high end wr2 is absolutely possible but will depend on traits beyond his athleticism and that’s the part that’s unknown at this point. If he learns to be a pro/Uses Landry as a model and stays clean them yes, absolutely huh end wr2

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
I would be happy with wr2 considering I got him in the 3rd round. Baker looked good last night so I am hoping they can build a nice connection going forward.
Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
He has WR1 Skill. Many thought he was the best WR talent I. This draft and only dropped due to off field issues. Sky is the limit for the kid if he can keep his head on, wish I had a share somewhere but missed him everywhere.
Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
Wish I took the risk on this player. He has loads of talent. Don't see him passing up Landry as the WR on his own team but has a bright future if he stays out of trouble and matures.
He rounds off routes a bit and needs more consistent effort play over play but his talent jumps out of the TV.
He looks to have the talent to be a WR1 but fantasy wise I would say WR3 with upside for the next 3-4 years.

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
Callaway is going to be a stud. Yes, he’s raw and needs to develop ... but he showed last night how explosive he can be.
Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
I took him in 4/5 rookie drafts and struggling what to do with him right now with all the offers rolling in.
This could be an amazing sell high window or you’re giving away the next Tyreek Hill.

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
He is going to be the deep threat on that offense - and as long as Baker takes over the upside is there. Landry will still be the focal point but he could be a WR2/3 with some boom weeks
Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
While he's a very different player, he reminds me a lot of Brandon Marshall. Marshall was a 4th round draft pick with all the tools but people were worried about his work ethic and attitude. If he can overcome his off field concerns then I would not be surprised if he had a few years of WR1 production during his career. That's a big if though.

He could be a team's WR1, but I don't ever see him being a fantasy WR1. WR2 for sure if things break his way.

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
If he's straight off the field, his on field hurdle is Landry, who will be his teammate for at least the next three years, again if he's doesn't have any off field issues.jetsfan5757 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 10:52 am He could be a team's WR1, but I don't ever see him being a fantasy WR1. Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
I liked Callaway's Florida tape a lot. But. He does not confidently profile as a true WR1, in my opinion. His talent profile and skill-set more plausibly align with a playmaking complementary WR2.
I say this because he does not appear to have high volume, possession-receiver traits. His hands and ball-skills aren't better than average, and his play-strength and catch-radius are below-average. Nor do I see the level of work ethic and commitment to film study of opposing cornerbacks that career WR1's are typically known for.
So even putting aside Callaway's character issues (which, of course, you should not), I advise not getting starry-eyed about Callaway's ceiling. Landry is probably going to remain a target-hog in Cleveland for a long time, assuming no career derailment (health, off the field, etc).

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
If he can stay clean I think he can obviously become a WR1 both on the team and in fantasy.
I'm a NYG's fan and the guy reminds me of Beckham with his speed/agility and playmaking ability. Hands are not as good, but they are good enough. If you watch football you can always tell the guys who have "it", and he's got it.
He's 21, is already starting, and has already flashed big time potential. Is he going to overtake Jarvis Landry in the next few seasons? Probably not, but don't put blinders on talent because another receiver is there. Many in this community did that for JuJu as well, writing him off because AB was there. bleep happens too, he was buried a few months ago with Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon on top of him, now he's starting on an up and coming team.
In a Baker Mayfield led offense AC could have a ton of value even as a secondary option to Jarvis Landry, especially considering Landry is much better underneath than over the top.
I bet on talent, and I've been acquiring him in every league I can.

Re: Thoughts on Antonio Callaway?
I see very little of what makes Beckham special on Callaway's tape. Aside from height/weight, they aren't very similar. Beckham wins 70+ percent of his contested catches, and his hand strength, arm-length, and vertical jump make his 5'11" height a red herring. None of this aligns with Callaway.
Right now, Callaway plays like a poor man's Santonio Holmes. He could eventually develop into better than a poor man's version, if he works hard enough for it.

Elite speed/acceleration and pretty good routes for a 21 year old. Seems similar to me.
