I would take Jacobs, Hilton, and maybe Sanders over him. But wouldn't trade him for Montgomery, any rookie WR, or Fournette.
Yea I really don't think it's all that crazy. I think the only rookie I'd take before Godwin is Jacobs. Can also understand being bearish on Forunette and Hilton. This looks like he's trying to get Godwin before a price increase.
At 32 in a startup you are basically buying at the upside price unless you feel he's going to vault into the top 8 or so WRs. Do you think he's going to jump ahead of Cooper, Theilen, Diggs, Keenan, AB, Cooks?
I was referring more to the rookies and two players mentioned.

Ehh you can draft a player at his current value without NEEDING him to increase his future value.

A lot has to do with the nature of a startup as well. Many drafters lean WRs over RBs due to the longevity of the position, and many drafters value youth even more since they don't know if their team will be competitive immediately. Godwin is a 23 year old WR (just turned 23) who's getting a lot of hype - so it doesn't surprise me that he's going in the late 3rd round of startups.

And if he's a mid-WR #2 this year? I think he's absolutely passing Theilen and Hilton (if he hasn't passed Theilen already), and maybe Cooks / Cooper unless they put together top12-ish seasons.

he was actually better than cooper in 8 weeks out of the 14 where they both played (and another one was a tie).
In the fantasy weeks when Amari was with the Cowboys (9-16), he was the WR6. In that same timeframe, Godwin was the WR42 (and he was WR34 on the year).

E: I know Godwin had a strong week 17 and Amari did not, but MFL doesn't show week 17 so I can't really see a ranking including that week (in other words: I'm not intentionally cherry picking that week). In any case...still laughable to suggest that Godwin should be anywhere near Amari's value right now.

Agree! Cooper is much more valuable than Godwin. C'mon now

Lamar Miller is a sell now, this will be his last year as a primary RB on a team, could even be beat out by Foreman this year. Texans are practically a lock to be one of the major players in the RB market in next years draft, unless Foreman really takes off.

Damarea Crockett and Karan Higdon are too more names he has to look out for.

...you think Lamar Miller needs to look out for two UDFAs?

I think Lamar Miller needs to look out for every other RB on that roster with a pulse.

kidding aside, Crockett and Higdon are legitimately intriguing prospects who could come out guns blazing if Miller misses a game due to injury. A lot of people are worried about Damien Williams losing the job, Miller is in the same category for me.

For sure they have a shot too, but unless one of the 3 plays extremely well I expect them to be going RB day 1 or 2 of the draft.

Whoops, edit- This possibility does NOT eliminate Higdon and Crockette as deep RB dart throws.

I'd want at least a mid 2020 1st to sell. Would buy for a late 1st.

I wouldn't say it eliminates them, but that's just what they are "dart throws". Late draft picks and UDFAs emerge somewhat regularly at RB in comparison to the other positions. So they are worth a shot, maybe one becomes this years Phillip Lindsay. Most likely they become nothing, but then you just move on to the next dart throws.

2020 late first is worth way more.

I wouldnt give more than a high 2nd for a guy who wont play 16 games. And I wouldn't trade Sammy away for a high 2nd so that means I wont be trading for him
