When I hear "superficial studs", I think it means guys who rode a great situation to elite production and you thought were studs. But when the situation deteriorated, their production dropped hard.

I could see Freeman as a faux stud. Wouldn't surprise me if Damien Williams is considered a fake stud next offseason.

Depending on how you look at it, I’d say Greg Jennings was a guy that was viewed as a top five receiver for a time, but left for Minnesota and was quickly exposed as completely situation dependent.

I’d second Slaton & McFadden.

Yeah this is how it probably should be defined. Otherwise it's just another over-hyped players/rookies thread in which you could list a thousand different players.

I was fooled pretty good by RGIII when I was just starting out.
