I researched this extensively when I saw ASJ get cut, thinking I found a secret gem that nobody else was looking at.

He's not worth it. JAG (Just A Guy) at best.

I don't think ASJ was cut because Pats have other plans. I think he was cut because he's ASJ.

There seems to be a popular assumption that the Pats O just has to have a frequently pass targeted TE. But Belichick is the GOAT, and the GOAT doesn't waste effort forcing square pegs into round roles. If the Pats don't have a guy on the TE chart actually deserving of significant pass targets, then the Pats probably just won't throw to their tight-ends much.

One of the many reasons Belichick is the GOAT is because he adapts to what he has and what he can get. If he doesn't have a particular asset worth using and he can't acquire one, then he'll just pivot and go in a different direction entirely.

This is what I've been saying also. Just wont use the TEs much outside of blocking this season. I believe they will have a lot more 2RB sets and they can move one out wide pre-snap to catch passes if needed

People also tend to forget that Gronk is one of a kind. A freak. A matchup nightmare. The best ever at his position. Simply because the Pats sign a TE with even an ounce of talent doesn’t mean he will be the second coming.

They certainly moved on from their high usage deep threat when Randy Moss moved on. They moved on from two TE after Aaron Hernandez got all murdery. They’ve gone to and away from the run many times. Totally agree with this.

I am not sure how picking up LaCosse at next to nothing equates to people thinking he is the next Gronk. If he shows something in camp & earns Brady's trust, then he'll get targets ... if not, he a cheap flier/roster stash.

Exactly. Opportunity is king and he has plenty of it as the starting TE for the Pats. He doesn't have to be as good as Gronk. He just needs to be a reliable pass catcher and blocker to get on the field.

Just based on tape on the Broncos? What type of research led you to this?

N'Keal Harry is basically their new starting TE (from a volume perspective, as in - he will get Gronk's volume).
Their "actual TE" will probably be worthless.

Harry will draw CB coverage .. the Patriots TE will still get opportunities when he get favorable matchups with LBs & Safeties.

Doesn't matter if your choice of TE is a guy like LaCosse or Anderson.

This offense is going to go primarily through the running backs and Edelman, then Harry and the pack will pick up the scraps.

A two year deal at $4.8M isn’t next to nothing, especially for the Patriots.
