The Next Young RB From This Mold
The Next Young RB From This Mold
I'm far from a great talent scout but seem to have some good luck seeking out a certain under the radar RB style. To me these RB's all seem to lack elite speed and sizzle most look for but all seem to have the "it" factor and natural skills/instincts important for RB's to have success at the NFL level.

Bradshaw
Rice
Foster
Hunt
Any young college or rookie RB's you see being from the same mold as these RB's?

You’re the one with the good luck spotting them, you tell us! Lol to answer the question, M. Gaskins feels like he may fit that list.

Montgomery I think is in that mold
Looks good, good production, “it” factor but not the best testing numbers.

Re: The Next Young RB From This Mold
yeah...you need to own 1.1 to get him...Jacobs is the guy that your describing.

I thought Montgomery too. Reminds me of Edgerrin James.Nanananananana wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:53 pm Montgomery I think is in that mold

He doesn't have elite combine measurables, but watching his game he sure looks smooth. Great vision, good instincts, follows his blocking. Can catch.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

I like the kid in NE...reminds me a little of Doug Martin. Different mold I guess though

He's got all the measurables, tho.
I'm on the David Montgomery pick here. This dude is a stud but small school and poor combine have people sleeping.

Ray Rice ran a 4.42. What qualifies as elite speed for you?dmac37 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:06 pm I'm far from a great talent scout but seem to have some good luck seeking out a certain under the radar RB style. Re: The Next Young RB From This Mold
Emmitt Smith was particularly hard to spot as a stud players, 16 players after all were drafted ahead of him in the 1990 NFL draft.

Re: The Next Young RB From This Mold
Emmitt Smith ran in the low 4.5s at 210 and was a first round pick. Ray Rice ran a 4.42. Neither of those guys fit with Foster, Hunt, or Bradshaw.
In general, I think this whole thread is bad process. Rather than trying to identify the players who might succeed despite characteristics typically associated with failure, you’re better served just avoiding those players because they’re bad bets.

Re: The Next Young RB From This Mold
Yeah Rice was lighting fast and agile. Bradshaw had elite agility and also ran a 4.5x which isn't great for 198 lbs but isn't terrible. Emitt Smith was drafted 30 years ago so it's hard to nail down his profile with the certainty you can today. Arian Foster was injured and missed the combine and who knows how healthy he was for his pro day. There is no way he was actually a 4.65-4.70 guy, no way. I saw him outrun some pretty fast players in the NFL. Now a guy like Hunt, yeah you can probably find more like him... sturdy guy, not super athletic but athletic enough, really solid all around game. I thought Aaron Jones was pretty similar to him in many respects.ericanadian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 5:53 amRay Rice ran a 4.42. Josh Jacobs. Not exactly under the radar, though. Nor is Montgomery.
