Re: Trading for pick 2+ years away
I made a trade that involved a 2023 pick. Whatever it takes!
Re: Trading for pick 2+ years away
Took your advice and got him to throw in his 4th for this year (granted I had to send mine for next year's back, but his is early and mine should be mid-late). Was happy to do it though. Wanted to get something back for this year/ next, so I accomplished that.moishetreats wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 4:17 pmHere's where you can really get an advantage. If you're simply stock-piling assets, then a 2021 2nd is similar to a 2020 2nd. You can note, truthfully, that nearer picks are more valuable. Simply ask for a 2020 or 2021 4th to be included. You'll be shocked (in a good way!!) how getting a couple or a few extra of those picks in deals like this set you up later to add them in as proverbial cherries in a big package for a player or pick that you really want.Jcedwards wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:05 amKinda funny because the player I am talking about is Sanders as well. I have another owner (big Broncos fan) hounding me for him. He doesn't have any 1st nor 2nd's for this year or next, so he is offering me his 2021 2nd round pick. I like Sanders, but he is also 32 and coming off a major injury. I really felt like 2021 is so far away and wasn't sure about trading this far out, hence why I was curious as to other people's thoughts on it.TimeWillTell wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 7:49 amI was looking to sell an aging E. Sanders last season. I shopped him and best I could do was a 2019 2nd (which would've ended up 2.10). But finally a WR needy team (took too many rookies in start up draft) came to me and offered a 2020 1st. He wanted to keep his 2019 to try to improve his team and felt he'd be great after the 2019 draft for several years. Now he's got a questionable Gurley, and possibly finished Hill, a Mahomes with no place to go but down, another RB in Michel with questionable knees and a possible RBBC situation and 1.10 and no 2020 1st. He is sitting on Kirk and C. Davis and Tre Smith as well as Guice so he's def not dead in water but he's panicking a bit now as he's got minimal depth. So I'm thinking my 2020 1st of his may end up mid at worst despite him thinking it'd be a late throwaway. Time will tell.
So, yeah, keep stockpiling those future picks!!
