DLF trade analyzer vs. Dynasty Dominator

Postby joeya2001 » Sun May 19, 2019 6:51 pm

so I've been playing around with both, I paid the 5$ for Dynasty Dominator to see what its like.

on one trade I made on DLF trade analyzer, it said I killed the owner in a trade.

Then I input the same one on DD and said slight advantage to the other owner.

I know they are all subjective and I should not rely on them as be all tell all.

But I'm curious if anyone gas experience with either or and what they think.

Trade I did was

I sent

OJ Howard
#7 overall and 2020 Second

got

Amari Cooper and #13 overall pick

DLF said I killed it

other said I slightly lost lol

I have never used either app, but it really comes down to the creators individual rankings, and how they value the rookie picks in the algorithm. I prefer the Coop side, as you already know.

I wouldn't say you killed it but you did come out ahead. It's all subjective, really. I say you try a bunch of one to one trades and see which trade calculator best fits your values and go with that one.

I just find it strange the different of opinions from calculations to calculations.

I like using these to get ideas of values

I think I'm going to experience with each during the season to see how they very week to week, give reviews on each

You sent a total of three players & picks, received two. DLF analyzer will credit you for opening up a roster space. I love that feature.

Trade calculators use ADP (group mindset), possibly their own rankings, and some sort of algorithm for future projection. None will keep up with real time events and none will ever likely match your own evaluations. They're a good place to start but I wouldn't be overly worried if your evaluation doesn't match the trade calculator evaluation.

Your trade is a perfect example. DLF likely places more weight on current ADP and performance: Amari side wins. The other calculator probably places more weight on projected stats and maybe even positional scarcity (If Howard is top 5 TE production could be considered more valuable).

Obviously they're never going to be perfect but I like them as a sanity check prior to sending an offer as well as to validating insta rejects to "are you f-ing kidding me!?" type offers.

On this particular trade, I'd tend to agree on the Cooper side being better, but I'm not surprised by DLF's take when you consider how they have TEs ranked in the overall rankings. Anecdotally though this positional difference doesn't play out like that in startup and rookie drafts that I'm in.

they both do this. DD as I understand it, greatly diminishes the value of ADP, instead relying heavily on PP's internal rankings, so in spots where they're lower than the consensus on individual players their results can look out of whack. conversely, sites that weigh ADP heavily will devalue players on the rise (it takes a while for ADP bumps to catch up) and who you personally might value higher than consensus.

First off, I'd like to reinforce the comment that no trade tool is going to perfectly reflect your specific situation, team needs, league dynamics, etc. So just go into using any trade calculator understanding & accepting that. I of course believe the DLF Trade Analyzer is the best one on the market, in particular because of the additional contextual information it provides, but that's not to say the others are terrible.

Also, every tool uses a slightly different combo of ADP, rankings, and other influencing factors. The DLF tool updates values daily and is the only tool which incorporates real-world trades to help adjust player value. This may make it a little more responsive than some of the other tools out there, but again, just keep expectations in check.

Trade calculators are just one tool in the tool belt. Use them to help shape your opinions and trade offers. But if you ever rely entirely on any trade calculator - our included - then you are doing it wrong. Use them as part of a larger trade evaluation process, know your team needs and your league, trust your instincts, and you'll do just fine.

Thanks!

You won that trade, imo. I wouldn’t say a landslide but your side is more valuable, pretty easily .
