Grid Iron Dynasty (Start up, draft)

I joined a new start up called Grid Iron Dynasty. It's a 10 team league, with pretty standard full PPR scoring.
No kicker. Has a weekly payout for high score. They decided to draft non rookies first. Snake. Then have a rookie draft after, non snake, opposite order. We pick where you want to pick at and I got 1st choice. I took the 10 spot. Gets me 2 players and the 1.1 in the rookie draft, not to mention the 2.1 who should still be a pretty good rookie. Nice to have bullets when you have to start a rookie.

Round 1 - Pat Mahomes QB
Probably not the optimal pick. But I love him. I don't have him in any dynasties so it is what it is.

Round 2 - David Johnson RB
Hoping he rebounds with a ton of catches in Kingsbury's offense.

Round 3 - Marlon Mack RB
I had AB or A.Cooper penciled in but they got snagged a few picks before me. I didn't like any of the WR that were left and felt I could get one within the same tier next time around.

Round 4 - Damion Williams RB
Again (see above as I pick back to back), didn't like any of the WR that fell. Could be a PPR monster. I'm rolling the dice.

Round 5 - Kareem Hunt RB
Well, I was hoping for TY, Ridley, K.Gollday, but they got nabbed. The plan now is to load up on RBs and maybe trade later.

Round 6 - Eric Ebron TE
Not crazy about him. But maybe he turned a corner. Or maybe it's just Luck. Regardless, with Luck his floor is like 700/8TDs. So at this point.

Round 7 - Derrius Guice RB
Probably not the best PPR RB but at this point in the draft he is worth a gamble and probably should have been gone by now considering the state of some of the other teams RB situation. This blocks them and helps me trade later.

Round 8 - Tyler Boyd WR
I really need a WR. Hopefully last year was no fluke.

Round 9 - Dede Westbrook WR
Hopefully he is the #1? I think so, at this point. And Deflippio isn't coming there to run.

Round 10 - Robbie Anderson WR
He and Gase are buds. Gonna get 10 targets a game. BooYa!

Round 11 - D'Onta Foreman RB
Still need to block some teams lacking RB from getting a good one. Miller isn't special. D'Onta can catch and will get an opportunity to shine this year. Bye bye Miller.

Round 12 - Tre'Quan Smith WR
Decent rookie year. They didn't acquire anyone to make me think he isn't the #2. Has Brees throwing to him.

Round 13 - Matt Breida RB
Could start. Jerrick SUCKS.

Round 14 - Anthony Miller WR
Throwing WR darts at this point, hoping one hits.

Round 15 - Demarcus Robinson WR
More darts, but Hill should miss 2019, Watkins can't stay on the field, Hardman is a rookie. And he has Big Pat throwing him the rock. I like this dart.

Round 16 - Chris Conley WR
Don't like this dart so much but I hear he is really buddy buddy with Foles. Maybe Foles lobbies for him.

Round 17 - KD Defense
Apparently we were REQUIRED to draft a D. So that's all I had left. Would have rather threw another WR dart and picked up a D later.

It's RB/RB/WR/WR/Flex/Flex/Flex, with last flex HAS to be a rookie (WR/RB/TE). So my WR aren't the greatest, not really feeling good about them. I do feel I only really need 2 to be decent and can play RB the rest of the way. And/or I should have some good RB ammo to trade for a WR down the road.

Just now started the Rookie draft. I don't really care to much for Jacobs, Sanders, or Montgomery. So I traded 1.1 and A.Miller for 1.6, 2.6 and Dante Pettis. Plan is to load up WR in the rookie draft.

Whoever set up that league is a MAJOR GUPPY for doing it that way. That commish should be banned from ever being a commish. Unless this is their 1st time setting up a dynasty league & they made a major mistake and will learn from it.

Their setup gives a huge advantage to the person at the end of the snake. Which equals YOU.

So good on ya for capitalizing on the buffoonery of someone else. LOL I would've done the same thing or I would've left the league.

Rookies should've either been included in the draft, or if you drafted before the NFL draft, then you draft blank rookie picks in your startup and then fill in those blanks with a subsequent rookie draft.

The guy who picked 2nd didnt hesitate to take the #1 spot and thought he was getting the advantage of getting Saquon. In fact, 2, 3, & 4 were next, then 9, 8, 5, 6 and 7.

But yeah, rookies should have been included.

Only liked the guice, Boyd, trequan and Miller picks. Then the AJB and whiteside rookie

Not a fan. Reached on Mahomes. Went too heavy on RB and your WRs leave a lot to be desired. Lastly, I'd rather have Barkley than DJ, Mahomes and the 1.01 in a 10 team 1QB.

The Mahomes pick was just a huge huge huge reach in this league. 10 team start 1 QB, but with 3 flex spots is a setup where QBs basically have the least possible value of any league. Thomas, JuJu, or Evans would have helped your team so much more there. Lots of gambling too (Williams, Hunt, Guice), but everybody has their own risk tolerance level so that is what it is.

Dude was 100pts better than any other QB. And barring injury I am set at QB for the next 10-15 YEARS.

Just out of curiosity, when you took the time to make this long detailed post, were you looking for feedback on your picks? Or did you just want to post the results with no feedback.

Personally I enjoy seeing startup draft results. But if I was taking the time to post my own, I would expect honest feedback, or I would tell people "here's my draft picks, I don't want to know what you think about them".

In 2011, Matt Stafford threw for over 5,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns. He looked like a top 5 QB lock for the next decade. I know I bit. I traded up & drafted him in round 2 of a 2012 startup draft, sandwiched between Calvin (1.1) & Dez (3.1). Guess which players helped me compete for years & win the championship in 2016?

Thanks for sharing, but I think in a 10 team league this roster has to be closer to the bottom than the top. Gets pretty speculative after David Johnson and he needs to bounce back.
