Grid Iron Dynasty (Start up, draft)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

jordanzs wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 2:14 pm Just out of curiosity, when you took the time to make this long detailed post, were you looking for feedback on your picks? Or did you just want to post the results with no feedback.

Personally I enjoy seeing startup draft results. But if I was taking the time to post my own, I would expect honest feedback, or I would tell people "here's my draft picks, I don't want to know what you think about them".

In 2011, Matt Stafford threw for over 5,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns. He looked like a top 5 QB lock for the next decade. I know I bit. I traded up & drafted him in round 2 of a 2012 startup draft, sandwiched between Calvin (1.1) & Dez (3.1). Guess which players helped me compete for years & win the championship in 2016?
Just sharing but feedback is up to the reader. I'm certainly not going to tell people I'm not looking for their feedback. Christ Brosef, this is a message board. Feedback, discussions, sharing, is what's it's all about. Sheeesh.

Yes it is, but stuff like "Whatever bro", "Christ Brosef", and "Sheeesh" sound like you are offended and argumentative regarding the feedback that you are receiving.

If I post a thread that encourages discussion, I don't answer with "whatever bro", "Christ brosef", and "sheesh". I thank people for their feedback.

I am pretty sure "Christ brosef" and "sheesh" were directed towards you and your suggestion that I tell people not to give me their feedback. So all you really have left is "whatever bro".

What's so wrong with starting my response to someone feedback with "whatever bro" it's not like I said "F you", etc.

Or am I just supposed to shut up and listen to your feed back without a reply? Come on dude, it was just a "whatever bro". No biggie. Dont get your panties all in a bunch.

Fan of: JJ arugula salad, taking mahomes. If he keeps doing what he did last year it’s not a reach, period. Not saying it’s what I’d do, but I can’t knock it. The guy scores insane points. Mahomes and DJ outscored Barkley and an average ten team QB1 (Watson) last year.

Ummmm, I don't know who helped you win the Championship in 2016. Matt Stafford, I guess?

well, I don't hate it... I think you could have gotten more for 1.01.. but I really appreciate the time you took to explain your selections..
hindsight is 20/20, so perhaps passing on mack for a WR would have been a better plan...but who knew that Guice would be available in the 7th round...also curious what WRs you passed on for Ebron...
but overall, you should be fine... and it is always possible to trade for a WR...
good luck this season
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
Kelce, Andrews, Jacob Harris

Picking Slot 10: great job picking this spot and getting the 1.01

1.10: Pat Mahomes: bad pick. For him to be worth this pick in a 10 team 1 QB league he'll need to replicate this season every year.

2.01: David Johnson: Think he'll be good this year but I don't like picking older RBs in the top 12. He's turning 28 this year and thus I don't think his value is going to increase very much, even if he explodes this year

3.10 & 4.01: Marlon Mack & Damien Williams: hate both of these picks. Both shoud be solid this year as they're in good situations but spending top 40 picks on not great RBs without draft capital is how you lose startups. Seem to redraft mindset picks.

5.10 Kareem Hunt: really dont like it, i have to imagine there were safer long term players available at #60 who could also offer more immediate impact. Hunt is a giant question mark right now. I believe in the talent but we have no idea where he'll wind up after Cleveland.

6.01: Eric Ebron bad pick. One year wonder type of player where most of his points came from TDs.

7.10: Derrius Guice: good pick.

8.01: Tyler Boyd: don't love him and he's an awful WR1 but this is fine value

9.10: DeDe Westbrook: meh. It's fine but curious who else was available

10.01: Robby Anderson: good pick.

11.10: Donta Foreman: good pick

12.01: TreQuan Smith: solid.
Team 1 - 12 team PPR
QB: MRyan, MJones, CNewton, RFitz
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, JMixon, AJDillon, LMurray, DarWilliams, GBernard
WR: SDiggs, ACooper, BAiyuk, JJones, LShenault, BCooks, KToney, KHamler, VJefferson
TE: JSmith, ISmith, ZErtz

Team 2 - 16 team, PPR, SF
QB: JBurrow, CWentz, ZWilson, Jimmy G
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, BSnell, TGurley, DGuice
WR: JChase, BAiyuk, CSutton, THiggins, JJeudy, JReagor, BEdwards
TE: ISmith, HarBryant, DSample, TTremble

Nailed it 100%.

BTW check out the draft board if you're curious to see who else was available where:

https://clickydraft.com/draftapp/board/135755

Me personally, I would've taken JuJu or Michael Thomas at that 1.10/2.1 post and then taken Watson for my QB at 6.1. And I would've taken Keenan Allen at 4.1 over Damien Williams.

I have D. Williams on some teams and I would LOVE to trade him straight up for Keenan. And I would gladly trade Mahomes/Ebron for Julu/Watson.

But that's just me though.....

Looking at the draft board, I would've went:

1.10: Mike Evans, WR
2.01: Joe Mixon, RB
3.10: Keenan Allen, WR
4.01: Brandin Cooks, WR

Pretty good starting lineup considering you could take Josh Jacobs at 1.01

I don't always use auto-pick for my Fantasy Drafts.
But when I do, I get this weak a$$ boring 5th place team.

In 10 team you should expect 4/5 studs...you have 2. 3 if you include Hunt.

I don't like it but good luck, it could pay off.

WR - Nacua, Dell, Hollywood, Jameson Williams, Burks, Mooney, Atwell, Melton, Phillips, Washington, Lazard.
TE - Ferguson, Mayer, Knox.
DEF - Bills, Vikings.

Rookie Picks: 1.02, 2.02, 3.02, 4.02 and 5.02.

TEAM 2
Dynasty PPR - SuperFlex and TE Prem. (16 teams)

QB - Prescott, Pickett, Ridder, Mariota, Mullins, Willis.
RB - Walker III, R. White, Montgomery, Singletary, R. Jones, Mack, Hull, Sermon.

All downhill after a smart decision to take the 1.10 and get the 1.01. Good thing is that it seems like no one really knows what they are doing since no one objected to such an awful way to setup a startup draft.

who was available at 1.10 and 2.01?

going tenth was a good move, but i'm not sure you fully took advantage of it.

edit: just saw the link. you passed on gurley, michael thomas and juju, then on keenan allen for mack and williams.
can't say i like it...
