2020 Rookie Positional Strengths

Postby Ericpritch5 » Tue May 14, 2019 1:20 pm

So I know there is a lot of talk about 2020 being a very strong year comparatively Vs. 2019, but in what ways? Is it just the presence of more "studs" at the RB position, or is it also deep with WRs? Is it very top heavy in round 1, or is it a deep class overall as well? Any weaknesses? From what I have seen, it seems like the one advantage 2019 has is a handful of solid TE prospects.

I have a lot of picks in 2019 and 2020, so trying to look a year ahead at what to expect in order to inform this years picks.

Thoughts?

2020 by position, imo...

RB - Better at top and deeper
WR - Better at top
QB - Better at top and deeper
TE - Worse in all respects

Obviously it's early and things can change, but that's my early read on it.

RB is better all around. Jonathan Taylor, Travis Etienne, D'Andre Swift, Najee Harris (I think he has a breakout season), J.K. Dobbins, Cam Akers.

WR is better all around. Jerry Jeudy has a chance to be the best WR in football. Laviska Shenault, Tee Higgins, CeeDee Lamb, Henry Ruggs, Tylan Wallace.

TE is weaker. There probably isn't a Hockenson or Fant in this year's class, but Albert Okwuegbunam is someone who analysts are talking up as the guy to watch.

QB may be similar. It depends on how you feel about Tua, Fromm, Eason and Herbert. I'm not blown away by that group right now, though some are really high on Tua.

The first round is going to be pretty darn good from top to bottom and the first few picks in the second round should be solid to say the least. I really dont love the qbs either though, outside of Tua (even him im a little hesitant as a pro prospect). People will rise and fall as usual, but a late first should still be very feverish this time next year.

No idea of the right search terms to find one, but I'd like to see similar threads from a year ago talking about this class.

A lot can change in a year, but holy cow this class is looking amazing at RB and WR. I can see 5-6 guys who should be top 12 at RB/WR in the NFL.

Wow, a lot of people were absolutely dead on with this class right from the jump.

I guess people always bitching about "you always say next years class will be better" aren't really remembering things well. That thread shows a very clear early indication of concerns that the 19' class was exactly what it turned into. A lot of poor landing spots, ok on field ability, and question marks.

Spot on for sure. I give a lot back on here when it comes to NFL talk but I learn a ton from the college talk here. I remember years ago hearing how loaded class XXX was so I flipped Martavis Bryant for a first and was in awe of the board when I had two 1sts. Got OJH and Engram in a TE premium.
