Undervalued Rookie WRs (Post-NFL Draft) ?

Postby Prison_Mike » Tue May 14, 2019 7:21 am

Now that we've seen some rookie drafts, who is being undervalued both in your leagues and by the community as a whole ?
I'm interested in seeing which RBs have been undervalued as well, but I've mainly been seeing WRs

I'll list a few that I've noticed:

Terry McLaurin - Went undrafted in one of my rookie drafts (3 rounds) & went in the late 4th of another
- Great athlete
- 3rd round draft capital
- Tied to his college QB in a wide open WR depth chart
- https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/terry-mclaurin/

Gary Jennings - Went undrafted in both of my rookie drafts so far & hasn't been drafted yet through 3 rounds of my current draft
- Similar athleticism & draft capital to McLaurin with significantly better college production
- Doug Baldwin died
- https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/gary-jennings/

Dillon Mitchell - More of a sleeper but hasn't even garnered interest on the waiver wire
- Above average athlete
- Great production last yr @ Oregon (set single szn REC YDS record @ ORE + 10 TDs)
- Depth chart - competing with Treadwell + Beebe?

I would also add Terry Godwin to this list - shoutout to lukkynumber13 for his post about Godwin
Note: on that same post, ArrylT may have just poked holes all through my thought process here lol

But I'm still curious which WRs/RBs are being undervalued in your leagues
Also feel free to tell me why these guys are being properly valued by going undrafted

Hakeem Butler fell down boards a lot once he became a 3rd day pick.

For sure, especially considering he was being touted by many as an early 1st round pick in rookie drafts
In my 3 drafts, he went 1.12, 2.01 & 2.03

I feel like Butler and McLaurin are both a bit undervalued and have made an effort to make them priorities at their draft positions

He's still going way earlier than a 4th round wr who wasn't even the first wr picked by his own team probably should though.

So what WRs and RBs should be going before him in the 2nd round? It's not like every other option doesn't have the exact same issues. If you think he's a 3rd or 4th round rookie pick all you're doing is taking similarly drafted mid round players not drafted to be starters. His value is one of the best right now.

I loved Butler going into the NFL Draft, his tumble helped me grab him at 2.09. Love him in Arizona, go Hakeem!

I am watching Penny Hart. He was an UDFA but maybe he makes the colts team. Heard some good things about him.

Darrius Shepherd, UDFA out of North Dakota State. 10th best YPRR since 2014. Packers picked him up and their depth chart isn't very impressive outside of Adams. Not undervalued given he's an UDFA, but someone semi-interesting to look at.

I'm not the guy to ask, but would Marquise Brown return any? I know he's fast and Baltimore hasn't had a good returner in forever. Not sure if he has experience though

I could see ole Greg Dortch as a returner and carving out a role in the receiving game in New York

I think Diontae was a solid return man in college if I remember correctly. Not sure who PIT currently has back returning. Switzer?

I’d actually put my money in Dulin to be the UDFA to make the Colts roster, but time will tell. I think both have talent (albeit not enough to be drafted).

Darius Slayton isn't a name I hear a lot, but think could have an early role on that team with very little competition.
