Saying he isn't that good and doesnt create separation just isn't true and is an indication you dont watch titans games (dont blame you btw). Davis had one of the most difficult schedules in terms of opposing DBs last year (as seen in above post link) and was still in the top 3rd of WRs in creating separation. Once again this year, you see him run wide open many times per game and QB doesnt even look at him or throws a wild pass. For him this separation means nothing when a QB is staring down someone else, overthrowing him when he does get a target, or when their bleep line only give the QB 2 seconds to throw. If you've watched or followed anything with the titans this would be hard to miss.

Isn't every TEN receiver 5 for 63 on the year?

Now I admit I haven’t seen much film on what Davis is actually doing during his routes, but I don’t think a single pass catcher in the NFL could produce in this offense. It’s just not possible to make an accurate judgement on any WR’s ability there, so there isn’t much to go off of or do than just wait.

Looks pre good together is 2 quarters of work.

Nope. If you think Tannehill is going to save his FF prospects, I don't know what to say. Davis had 3 for 36 on the day. Trailing. All day. I admire the optimism, but I think it's far fetched to think Tannehill changes much. Sorry, I was an non truther, I suppose. I traded him early this year.

I don't claim Tannehill is better than Mariota but one seemed to throw it to Davis and one didn't. We'll see how this goes after a few weeks but it was encouraging that Davis actually started existing as soon as Tanny came in.

Long-term, I don't think the switch matters. Mariota and Tannehill are more or less the same player.

This is a bit misleading. Tannehill came in with less than 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter when Mariotta was 7/18 for 63 yards with 2 INT's. At that point CD had 2 targets through over 2 and a half quarters with no catches... having been down all game.

Once Tannehill came in he got 3 targets and caught all of them for 36 yards. I give you that they were in passing mode and stats will be a bit inflated, but he still went 13/16 for 144 and one INT in a less than a quarter and a half. I give that you would expect the passing stats to be higher, but when is the last time Mariotta did that?

At the least, CD's garbage time stats would improve with Tannehill under center.

Yes and no. If you are saying they are more or less the same as in disappointing high first round picks that can't stay healthy and aren't franchise QBs; then yes I agree.

However, the pass catchers in TN have a much better chance of being fantasy relevant with Tannehill than they ever did with Mariota. Mariota can't even throw a deep out without one hopping it to his receivers.

If Tannehill can just be average I wont be shocked to see him as the bridge QB for a couple seasons. My hope regardless is that this move at least gives us a chance to evaluate the WRs.

Tannehill has been a bad deep ball passer his entire career. Football Outsiders did a chart on accuracy on passes that traveled 21 or more yards down field last season.

Mariota ranked 7th on 28 attempts.
Tannehill ranked 34th on 32 attempts

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat- ... ll-project

More or less they're both mobile, gameplan dependent QBs who don't make receivers better and feast on the short/intermediate game. Hard for me to make much out of a game where Tannehill was able to sit, watch and play against a team that didn't prepare for him.

Been comfortably numb on Davis for a while now. Maybe a QB change helps slightly, but honestly, wake me up in 2020. I guess that's my soft deadline for when he has to be off my team via some miserable sell-low trade - unless all the coaches get fired and he has a real QB.
35 Team Dyn PPR, 3 x Copy SF start 2TE Super Prem (TE 2 PPR, 8pt TD), 6 pt/non-TE TD, 1pt/20 yds pass (300 +3pt), 1pt/10 yds rush/rec (100 +3pt)

This is my thought as well. At this point owners had to have him tied to the bench. Tannehill at least is a potential change from the norm, which was not good. The hope was always that Mariota would be a competent passer, capable of supporting a fantasy viable WR. Outside of Delanie, at a much thinner position, he’s proven incapable. Tannehill at least should be able to improve the pass game, beyond just YAC plays by the pass catchers. You can be skeptical on his outlook and Tannehill, but things aren’t any worse and the change is needed. Mariota is worse than when he started as a rookie. The future of Tennessee isn’t here, nor may Davis be to see that change. Hold your WR4 and cross your fingers.
