Minicamp rumblings/standouts

Postby jman3134 » Mon May 06, 2019 5:35 pm

DK Metcalf apparently has been ultra impressive, though I saw him drop some passes on a few clips of him.

Joe Horn Jr. looked good in a tryout with the Ravens.

Slayton had a bad first day for the Giants.

While this is going to come across as my skepticism for DK I am going to say it anyhow,
Keep in mind that his coach his Carroll; who talks up everyone.

I know that he is untrustworthy in that sense - everyone is great to him. That's why I didn't include his optimism on Jazz Ferguson as anything. I was relying on second hand sources regarding DK, nothing from the coach.

Examples include Gregg Bell, Rob Rang.

Last year:
Among those aiming to make a statement, coach Pete Carroll has been very impressed with the growth of “special” second-year receiver David Moore, who appears primed for a breakout season.

But overall, I expect every player drafted early to look good in a padless rookie minicamp.

Word is that Metcalf, Hardman and Campbell are all doing great in camp. Particular strong buzz about Hardman and DK. It's likely all meaningless, but nonetheless soothing to hear about prospects that have me nervous (and that I've invested in).

Ha I heard Carroll was saying a ham sandwich looked great during camp. I think he said something along the lines of being happy he had a HOF sandwich in camp and he sees great things for ham sandwich.

Heard some coaches say “yeah...the guy sucks. Wish we wouldn’t have drafted him last week”.

I don't care if a coach is talking up his rookies, unless it's an undrafted rookie.

I do care if a coach talking about a high-end rookie says "so and so needs work".

If anyone knows either of these two, feel free to share.

Reid spoke highly of Hardman as a quick study in routes. He did say his first few dragger routes were Brutal but was impressed how fast he picked them up and improved.

Reid is a good coach and made it clear routes are much different at the NFL level.
