Undervalued TEs to target?
I've got a very strong team, with good depth, save if Kelce goes down.
Who are people targeting for breakout or undervalued TEs this year? I'm thinking of Herndon and Dickson. Think if Baldwin does retire, the Seattle TE may have sneaky value

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Herndon is a guy I would and have been targeting. He's being undervalued by the ff community as a whole imo. Dissly (Seattle TE) would be interesting except he's coming back from a patellar tendon tear which is the same injury Jimmy Graham had and Jimmy never seemed the same after coming back from it.

Ian Thomas in CAR. I think Olsen is done. Keep an eye on Hockenson and Fant, even Smith. Good rookie class.

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Is Herndon undervalued? He seems pretty highly valued and I think there’s some risk there with Gase/Loggains coming in to run the offense. There is pretty much Orange Julius and no one else in their combined history of successful TEs and even he was essentially one and a half seasons.Londondynasty wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 2:30 pm I've got a very strong team, with good depth, save if Kelce goes down.

I think Dickson depends on whether you think he’ll even be the top receiving option at TE over Vannett/Dissley.
Personally, I like Mark Andrews in Baltimore. He performed decently in his rookie year and should be able to continue to produce with Jackson. I don’t see much chatter on him either, though I suspect his owners may value him higher than the gen pop

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Herndon per current ADP is going off the board as the 16th TE and 134th player off the board. To me that's clearly undervalued.ericanadian wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 2:55 pmIs Herndon undervalued? Per a 2014 article in regards to Eric Ebron's rookie year "According to Pro-Football-Reference.com's play index, only 26 rookie tight ends have ever topped the 500-yard mark."
https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/footb ... ight-ends/
2 TEs were added to that list last year and unless I missed someone no one else has been added since the article was released. Those 2 players, Chris Herndon & Mark Andrews.

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Herndon is definitely undervalued. In a startup auction salary cap league with 32 teams i just joined , his salary is 4.5m while other tes like kelce and ertz and Kittle were 20m, and other tes like njoku and Howard and hunter Henry and Engram went for 10-14m
Even Dallas goedert went for 7m
Also fant and Hockenson went 12m
Hooper went 5.5m
Gerald Everett 3m
I would say pretty undervalued.
If i wasn’t on my phone i could give a better list of full results for better perspective.

Hooper was something like TE6 last year and could probably be had for a random 2nd.

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Herndon sure seems to be properly valued by the people who actually own him. Austin Hooper is 24, was TE6 last year, and has an ADP between rookie picks 2.06 and 2.07. He's the TE12, Herndon is the TE 13 in terms of ADP.
If you look at TEs through age 25 since the merger, Eric Ebron ranks 9th in yards, 6th in TDs, and 5th in receptions. He just turned 26th and is going as TE8, a full round after Hunter Henry in startups.
If you have trouble with describing somebody being drafted as a starter as "undervalued" then I'd offer Mike Gesicki, whose team just traded for a better QB, didn't add anything in the draft at WR or TE, and will presumably be throwing a lot. He's cheaper than Herndon, whose team added Lev Bell and Crowder.

Herndon and Andrews you say? I like to hear that because I own Kelce in 5/6 of my leagues, Herndon in 4/6, and Andrews in 3/6.djeternal2 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 3:00 pmHerndon per current ADP is going off the board as the 16th TE and 134th player off the board. Buuut, Ebron didn’t have 500 yards his rookie year did he? And Evan Engram did in 2017 right?

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
Herndon. Gerald Everett. Mark Andrews. The Hayden Hurst drafter in your league could be having buyer's remorse, and so might give him away for next to nothing. Maybe the Hunter Henry owner in your league is dumb and you could buy-low. Goedert would be dynamite the instant Ertz misses games. Unlikely to be a factor in '19, but I think Kahale Warring is interesting. For a super deep dive, you could stash Darren Waller. You could make Irv Smith a 3rd or 4th round target in your rookie-draft.
Careful. Hurst went two rounds before Andrews for a reason, and it's normal for a foot stress-fracture to ruin that calendar-year for a pass-catcher, so I don't think anyone has seen what Hurst can actually do in an NFL jersey yet.Stevens61310 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 4:01 pm Mark Andrews in Baltimore is my choice--I think he is the best TE Baltimore has--

I second the Hayden Hurst choice. A lot of the TE here are not undervalued, specially Herdon, I actually think he'll be a bit overvalued going into next year.

In my leagues - Herndon is certainly not undervalued, I don't give a damn what ADP suggests.

Re: Undervalued TEs to target?
I have some faith in a Doyle return to relevancy this year. He's also pretty cheap to most owners. Last year when he returned, he outsnapped Ebron from the get go. Tells me he is still the better TE tbh.
Also, if he would've kept the same pace all year that he did when he returned he would've been the TE6 in most PPR formats.
Entering the year at 29 could be a big con to Doyle but if you need a cheap serviceable backup on a contending team, I like Doyle the most this year.
Per ADP, Doyle is currently sitting right next to Gesicki.. to me that is CHEAP!
