Dynasty league-lights turn off in January, on again end of August

Depends on the league... Do you have an active off-season? When is your rookie draft? If nothing is going on, I'd be fairly inactive too because the NFL isn't doing much right now for a few months

Yes. If it's an internet league with people you don't know IRL, I'd leave after the season. If it's a friends league, join another more active league on the side.

Doesn't bother me. A Dynasty league permits year-round activity; you can't force someone to trade or even log into the site.

Now, are their monthly waivers all year? A Rookie Draft in May? Things like that would demand and necessitate owners who are active year-round. Otherwise, if they're committed from, say, August through December, so be it. And if you enjoy the league, then stay and enjoy! Just know for next time to seek out one that has mandatory off-season events (e.g., drafts, waivers, etc.).

This describes half my league! Can't blame them, most of my friends are also in a Fantasy Baseball league together, and our rookie draft isn't until late August. But since free agents can be picked up anytime of the year, this creates an advantage for people actually paying attention to league news.

Doesn't bother me. Some people are more active than others in my league. Honestly in a one of mine I'm not super active since I feel like I made most of my big moves just after the superbowl and have been waiting for a while.

If you find that your leagues need a kick suggest starting the rookie draft in May (like around nowish)

A lot of leagues vary with activity. A few of my friend leagues, we don't see action for a month or so and all of a sudden a trade sprouts out. I will tell you if you are looking for activity, make a trade. It seems in most leagues that I'm in , during an activity drought all it takes is 1 trade to be made.. then another happens and the domino effect has been created. Next thing you know about 4 or 5 trades are made within a few days.

This is exactly what happens in most of my leagues. Once one trade happens after a down period, everyone gets the trade itch for about a week before it dies back out. It will come in waves during the off-season.

Leagues need formal events in the off season to generate activity. And most leagues have ONLY one formal event each off season. Doesn't matter whether it falls in April, May, June or August. The rest of the time these leagues go dark.

This is why I'm a huge propenent of MULTIPLE formal events to generate sustained off season activity.

Just venting here...I'm in 4 dynasty leagues, two of which I have just joined and love the activity of everyone, and the other two have zero owner activity from late December through mid-August when the rookie draft is held. I just don't get it...anyone have any ideas on how to stimulate interest...I guess trying to move the draft up to May might help..

Moving draft to May would help but be careful what you wish for. Pretty soon you'll have those guys offering you a 3rd round pick for Gurley. There's a 20+ page thread in this forum with bleep trades like that where I'm sure more than a few of those owners wished for a "more active" league.

In reality, I've become one of "those" owners. I have about 15 leagues that I'm involved with and a bleep ton of stuff going on IRL with 4 kids. I honestly don't have the time or patience anymore to deal with idiots who want to argue over player value and try to convince me that their player is equal or greater in value than mine who has an ADP 25 spots higher, or why I should give them a big discount on the player they want, etc. Most of my teams are built through the draft and free agency and a large majority of the offseason deals I get done these days are based off a solid first or second offer, otherwise I'd rather they just left me alone in the offseason.

The exception is my oldest league, which is entering its 21st year this year. Most of us are friends IRL, we get together on a regular basis for other events (e.g. BBQ after softball games, birthdays, etc.) and the talk invariably comes around to FF. With the exception of the draft which we all get together for, FF is a secondary or tertiary reason to do so. Weirdly, that is my most active offseason league as far as trading goes but it really doesn't feel like it.
