Nope, actually the opposite.

They can score highly, but are hugely replaceable. LBs in real life get benched and cut and traded and promoted constantly. Tons of turnover. Same with safeties. And because there are so many getting big snaps every week (roughly 60+), it’s usually not a big drop off to go from the LB5 to the LB25.

It’s basically like kickers, except there are twice as many that are startable every week.

Here’s my roster (will be able to stash some more fliers here in a couple days, once FA opens up for us post-draft):

QB: Darnold, Haskins, Rosen (start 1)

RB: Josh Jacobs, Damien Harris, A. Mattison, Alex Collins (start 1-4)

WR: Keenan Allen, Corey Davis, Marquise Brown, Mecole Hardman, DK Metcalf, Josh Reynolds, Marcell Ateman (start 3-6)

TE: Evan Engram, OJ Howard, Gerald Everett, Drew Sample, Dalton Schultz (start 1-3)

AS FOR DRAFT CAPITAL - Here’s where I really focused.

In the 2020 class: I now have 7 Firsts, 10 seconds, 5 thirds, 7 fourths, & 5 fifths.

In the 2021 class: 2 Firsts, 5 seconds, 3 thirds, 2 fourths, & 2 fifths.

Handful of 6ths & 7ths in both 20 & 21 rookie classes.

And keep in mind, in a league that starts 11 IDP with complex & balanced defensive scoring, tons of offensive players fall. In a similar league to this, guys like Dante Pettis & Cooper Kupp go late 3rd or even mid 4th. Terry McLaurin went in the 6th in a similar league. Noah Fant fell to the mid 2nd in 2 leagues with a similar format. Even in the 7th round, stash guys like Dawson Knox/Drew Sample/Bruce Anderson/3rd tier IDP rookies can readily be found.
Ok, so an update if anyone cares:

My offensive roster can be seen as team B in my sig. Defense hasn't changed, a ton, except I added a couple solid young guys at LB and S, and added Ngakoue on the D-line. Traded away Davenport and Takk, but otherwise haven't dealt my core IDP guys.

I now have 8 Firsts, 9 Seconds, 7 Thirds in 2020.

Also have 5 Firsts , 7 Seconds, 3 Thirds in 2021.

I feel pretty confident that I can be a strong competitor next year, with a handful of unexciting yet young QBs, Mixon at RB, KA/Evans/Hollywood/Metcalf/Landry at WR, and some upside dart throws at TE.

I plan on going hard after RB in the draft this coming year, and probably trading quite a few picks away for vets at WR and even IDP.

Jacobs was a pretty easy sell a couple weeks ago, was able to basically get Evans for him. Got Derek Carr cheap, which I like given the depth of our league. I was able to turn Evan Engram into Mixon plus 1sts in 20 and 21, which made me very happy. Corey Davis turned into Njoku.

EDIT: Finally made a good deal to sell Keenan Allen. Paired him with a 2nd to grab Hopkins.

Don't set hard rules on yourself or you'll end up forcing yourself into a bad draft position. If you draft a team with RB's like that, you will not be contending next year either, and if you miss on RB's next year, you won't be competing the following year. Others can have different options, but winning in year 1 is just as good as year 3.
This is some of the best advice you can get. I've bought and sold both youth and vets. It's fluid and very league-dependent. Once you feel out how the league values players, you can find your spots to capitalise.

Ouch

I still prefer Evans to Jacobs long term, ESPECIALLY as I am not playing for 2019 wins, but dang - I literally can not imagine a more polar opposite game result from a pair of studs, as we saw from Evans vs Jacobs today...
