Final Rookie RB Ranking

Postby MEuRaH » Sat Apr 27, 2019 9:04 pm

The draft helps me eliminate some guys if they get drafted to a bad spot, and increases the value of others if drafted to a good situation. These are my final rankings in tiers, not in order. I'm grouping RBs by what I perceive to be their high end.

Round 1: http://forum.dynastyleaguefootball.com/ ... 5&t=178590
Round 2: http://forum.dynastyleaguefootball.com/ ... 5&t=181674
Round 3: Below

——— RB1 (1-6)
None
——— RB1 (7-12)
Miles Sanders - Gotta work on his fumbling issues
Josh Jacobs - Needs to cut down on mental mistakes
——— RB2 (13-18)
David Montgomery - He doesn't sink his hips and he leans into holes. I was hoping he'd go to a power attack and... I think he did? I thought the reason that the Bears shipped off Howard and signed Patterson was so that they could use more zone, so I'm confused. EDIT: Bears are running power and that suits Monty's strengths, so that's a huge plus. Monty DOES indeed sink his hips and has good vision... am I ranking him too low? This could be scary.
——— RB2 (19-24)
Devin Singletary - Great feet, doesn't catch passes, isn't a 3 down back.... yet. Zone runner that went to a zone running team. Gotta be patient with this one. If he improves his catching, move him up to the next tier.
——— Flex1 (25-30)
None
——— Flex1 (31-36)
None
——— Flex2 (37-42)
Damien Harris - On a team that knows how to spread the ball around.
Justice Hill - Probably the biggest bust in the draft after Henderson. Might have a good year or two sharing the load with Ingram, but is not a complete back. Draft him just to trade him for more value later.
——— Dart Throw
Miles Gaskin - I love his landing spot. Could actually contribute right away as flex and potentially take over some starting duties.
Bryce Love - I love his upside, I hate his horrible injury and possibility of sharing duties with Guice.
Alex Barnes - Rookie Free Agent who signed with Tennessee. Great landing spot, possible flex upside or more with injuries.
Karan Higdon - Undrafted free agent sitting in Houston. The Texans have a revamped offensive line and they didn't draft a RB to compete with Lamar Miller like they had each of the past 2-3 seasons. I think they found a good one in Higdon.

============================

If I didn't mention anybody else, it's because I don't believe in them or their situation enough to warrant a spot on this list.

With the 1.01 I'm going to have a hard time passing on Jacobs, I think he's the best bet to be an immediate RB2 with RB1 upside. I think sanders has a lot further to go on the depth chart with Howard there before he can get a large enough workload. I'm probably going to draft Jacobs and hope Sanders begins to fall in my rookie drafts so I can trade back up to get him.

Howard has 1 year left on his contract. Howard is a power runner on a zone blocking team. Sanders is a zoner runner.

Sanders > Howard soon enough.

Technically the last name of the OKC bomber was McVeigh, and since he died almost 20 years ago I wouldnt be surprised if this guy was barely aware of the similarities of their name.

Good point! I have no doubt sanders will win the job before it is said and done. Is Sanders your 1.01 then? I think his draft stock has been on the rise for quite a while and I'm sure some will like him even more with the eagles but I think some will have the "howard fear" so where you do think he'll go on average in drafts?
