Hello everyone, My team is the Appalachian Mountaineers. I came into the draft with the 2.13, 5.05, 5.10, 6.05 and 7.05. Team primary needs are rb and te depth. With my first pick being the 27th overall and my next pick not coming until 5.05 (34 picks later) I decided to swing for the fences.......
With the 2.13 I selected NDSU rb Bruce Anderson, yes there were more obvious players available but I really like what I've seen and read about this guy and wasn't sure he would still be on the board at 5.05. Matt Waldman compares him to Thurman Thomas.
With the 5ths, 6th, and 7th round picks i selected.....
Caleb Wilson--TE, UCLA........son of an NFL coach, skilled pass catching TE
Ryquell Armstead --RB, Temple.....intriguing skills as a potential inside zone rusher in the NFL
Josh Oliver --TE, San Jose State....6'5", 250lb, 10 3/4 in. hands and ran a 4.63 40
Tony Pollard -- RB, Memphis......good size and speed with excellent kick return abilities

as the smoke clears and the season progresses this draft will make me look like a FF genius OR not so much so
DLF Charter- Carolina Crosstown Traffic
DLF Charter II- Carolina Cozmik Vibes
DLF IDP Invitational--Stone Free
DLF IDP Invitational II--Lazy Lightnin (15 Champions)
DLF United -- Carolina Experience (17 Champs)
Lead Dog--Bad Company
FAAFFL--Purple Haze (99,08 Champions)
RnRFFL--Crosstown Traffic (2000, 02, 04, 10, 17, 18,19 Champions)
Gridiron Elite Dynasty League--Appalachian Mountaineers

You are in a "Purple Haze" and when the smoke cloud clears  you'll be whistlin' a different tune. Neither Genius nor Imbecile this draft was well done considering the lateness of your picks. May be none ever produce but I like the talent @ the spot picked. Bruce "ALMIGHTY" Anderson was definitely a major leap of faith though but I like it

That 1.01 selection looks really rough right now.

It is a massacre out there right now. 3 of the top 10 including 1.01 still not even picked in the NFL draft.

Can we just appreciate how badly the Xenomorphs did in this draft? I feel for the guy. In the 1st round, he owned the 1, 2, 9, 10, and 14.

He could have had any 2 of:
Josh Jacobs
N'Keal Harry
David Montgomery
Miles Sanders
DK Metcalf

Any 2 of:
Noah Fant
TJ Hockenson
Deebo Samuel

And:
Marquise Brown

He got none of those guys. His comments in this thread make my stomach hurt...

Xenomorphs
1.01 Hakeem Butler
1.02 AJ Brown

Early on I had Josh Jacobs as my 1.01 and Harry 1.02 but the more film I watched of Butler (& Brown) and time spent researching, it became an easy choice for me (to pick someone else).
There's such a thing as over-analyzing. I've done it myself. The more you view of the guys you like, the more flaws you find. And the more you view your other options, the more you perceive what you think you're going to be missing out on.

This is a lesson for all of us. Scout until you feel comfortable. Think about 1-2 must-have qualities in a player and 1-2 must-not-have's in a player, and look for it. When you find what you're looking for, STOP AND MOVE ON.

That's what I do now and it's worked wonders for my drafts these past 3-4 years. I've had one bust (Doctson, who I promptly traded when he got hurt) in that span doing this method. Otherwise you'll be talking yourself out of taking players you should have taken.

I did awful on my selections also. :(

Both my guys went UDFA (Ashton Dulin & Brett Rypien) and my veteran hunch got buried with the acquisition of Montgomery (Ryan Nall).

But at the cost & hit rate of my picks, it was to be expected. Just always disappointing when your lottery tickets dont win you a million dollars.

It is too early to pass complete judgement on players and picks, but based on where they are drafted in the NFL draft you can say picks don't look as good as before. The goal should be to have the players you picked as early as possible, not have that player picked really late.

Yeah, i think everyone is on board with the idea that having your guys picked early makes you feel better than if they are picked late. I’m not sure who would disagree with that (or who would need it spelled out for them).

I stand by the position that declaring an entire draft blown 48 hrs after the draft ends is a classic DLF forum “losing the forest for the trees.”

But yes—if the argument is that it feels better to have your picks go early bc there is a correlation between going early and draft capital and a further correlation between draft capital and the opportunity to produce and yet a further correlation between opportunity and actual production then yes, it certainly feels worse to have one’s high picks taken later than earlier.

Just to clarify - it was not the Xenomorphs owner who declared his draft blown, it was another person on the forum, who after reviewing the draft did so. I commented after on my picks, not because I thought my picks were blown - just that while I knew my picks were long shots as is (3 7th round selections) - I had still been hopeful to be lucky and so far not off to a good start.
