The Tyreek Hill Thread

Tyreek Hill was a rather hyped prospect in college before doing, a pretty reprehensible thing. He pled guilty to beating his pregnant girlfriend, and was rightfully thrown out of Oklahoma St, where he had briefly flashed at RB. Drafted in the 5th round as a WR this year, now reports out of Kansas City camp say he is flashing again, taking snaps at multiple positions with the first team. Particularly, he's fast and has a good burst. He is a little small at 5'8 185, but otherwise has the makings of a prospect that would have been on our radars had he not beaten his pregnant girlfriend. He's likely on waivers and it feels like cheating, picking up a rookie who ran a 4.34 40 casually at the beginning of August.

If OBJ was on the Chiefs I wouldn't want him anymore.

How do you think Tyreek Hill compares to a guy like Jakeem Grant? Who would you say has a better chance at seeing some meaningful snaps? They seem like clones of each other.

The likelihood Hill even has meaningful snaps is probably low. But when he's probably free, all he costs is a roster spot. Worth an add in TE premium

Why is he worth an add in TE premium?

Hill is the cheapest way to replace DAT who was never fantasy relevant. Hill has talent and speed for days though.

waiver wire practice squad fodder , Alex smith can barely keep maclin and kelce busy let alone a smallish rookie that will be on his best day a gimmick type player . May have a good day or two but in a 16 week season good luck actually having him in your lineup when he scores more than a couple points. A classic guy for the chronic rebuilders and shiny toy chasers .

Exactly what I came here to say. Can't even see him getting snaps over Albert Wilson. Maybe he can help if you get points for return yards or something, but his role won't be consistent enough to be worth rostering.

Hill outperformed DAT at the 40, the 3 cone, the vertical jump, the broad jump, Hill is heavier than DAT despite being shorter. I don't see why Hill couldn't beat out Albert Wilson and take that workload + punt returns year 1. Then you are just hoping to see the KC situation change. (Smith will only have 7M worth of dead money on the cap after the year, they could move on.)

Ah the Chiefs have gone 11-5, 9-7 & 11-5 with Alex Smith under center - why would they want to move on? We arent talking about a team like the Rams that has been lucky if they went 7-9 or 8-8. Not to mention in comparison what QBs are getting paid - for example Smith is being paid on average less than Kaepernick & Bradford and those teams are a mess in contrast to the Chiefs.

As long as Smith continues to play like he has these past few years, I would be quite surprised if the Chiefs cut him, and would expect they would be looking to extend him. Earliest I could see them moving on is 2018 if there are 2 back to back seasons of injury or abysmal play, and even there its been 2 years since Kaepernick has been "good" and he is still in the mix for a starting role.

Wow whoops. Apparently I can't read. Hill is a WR not a TE like I apparently think.
Conley seems to have the WR2 spot in KC locked up so far.
Hill will still be very lucky to ever see meaningful snaps IMO

Smith is a game manager who has been able to maintain a job on the strength of a running game and defense, like in San Francisco. Andy Reid seems like the kind of guy to me who thinks he can do better. (Either on Foles' 2017 team option worth between 6-16 million, or the fact that Smith's career Yards Per Attempt is under 7.) It's not like a team has ever turned on him before despite moderate success. Regardless, Hill could be a success with or without Smith. I just know that people seem to see him as fantasy poison. I hope I'm wrong. I hope Hill is garbage. But I think he's got like, top 36 WR upside.

Ouch. I don't disagree with the sentiment, but as a Chiefs fan that hurts...

Hill has been impressive in practice. It could mean nothing, but if the alternative is doing poorly in practice, this is at least a positive development. Conley is on waivers in certain leagues and I'd much rather take a flier on him than Hill.
