am i crazy or did he just sign an extension for an additional two years?

I like Godwin, but agree Olsen is definitely better.

As a psu fan I saw Goodwin and I can tell you the guy is really really good. Even with Jackson this year Goodwin has a chance to be a really good wr2. Jackson is already toast. Goodwin show his potential last year when djack was out as a wr2. I already have him so I do not know his cost but even if I like him I would not overpay for him. I like him better than ridley that said

I'm gonna guess you are not the biggest PSU fan as you misspelled Godwin's name 3 times, or you like that bum from the 9ers a bunch. As to the discussion, I see him in that weird buy/sell/hold area as a guy who definitely has talent w/ a decent opportunity but also capped for awhile. It all depends on the price, but over Ridley I'm not on board with yet.

Eye test.

(I also know someone ... the son of a close friend of mine ... who has worked in the Bucs training camp ... low level equipment volunteer ... but he hears things from coaches and players ... 'word is' that Godwin may not only pass Jackson but at some point ... wait for it ... Evans ... useless info of course ... forum wisdom knows all ... buy.)

Last year when I was at Bucs training camp, he was all over the place and catching everything .. playing all 3 positions, he is fun to watch. What I didn't realize though, was how bad our secondary really was .. Buzz is daily from camp, he's versatile, we will have to wait and see if it translates to the field on game days in a big way ..

I think there are two separate issues here as some have mentioned, and those are Godwins value as a prospect, and Godwin vs an aging proven veteran.

Olsen is a bad vet to compare to as he is kind of in Brady, Gronk, etc., territory. He has flirted with retirement, is 33, and has auditioned to be a broadcaster (which will probably happen). With that, it is as others have said, what use to YOUR roster is a proven TE for 1 or maybe 2 years. That is independent of Godwin imo.

The second issue is Godwins values. I don't know that I have seen an obsession as it is labeled. I think he has some skills, youth, and a depth chart that he could ascend as DJax is also quite old at this point. He will never pass Evans, that's ludicrous. But the eye test for me puts him up there and a little above similar prospects (for me the comp is Golladay).

I haven't watched a ton of Godwin so kick me if I'm wrong but his play style reminded me of Enunwa who I think also has a good year this year. I look at it as he's an upside prospect who is still affordable but will need a TB injury or two to really be fantasy relevant this year.

From an analytical perspective, Godwin checks every single box to be a very good NFL receiver based on his high school and college days.

If Godwin were on a different team (like a lot of players) maybe he would have gotten NFL exposure earlier but you can't help but notice that in his 2 offseasons, all you've heard are glowing reports and how today, Jackson is being relegated to the slot and or 3WR sets.

I believe that Godwin carries as much potential as any of the WR in this draft class, we'll just have to see how much he can eat into Evans' target share.

I dunno about 'obsession', but Godwin had good tape (for a rookie) and some nice analytics (for a rookie). And the coaching staff always seems to speak well of him. Also DeSean Jackson probably isn't long for Tampa Bay, so there's perceived to be imminent opportunity on that depth-chart, assuming Winston can actually feed another WR alongside Evans to significant fantasy value, which personally I'm not convinced of yet.

i guess obsession wasnt the right choice of wording but if you look on dynasty team advice thread every day theres a new post of "godwin trade" seems hes being targeted A LOT

I know what you meant. I just wanted to express for myself that while I like Godwin, I'm rational about it. ;)

everyone sees him starting opposite evans eventually. on a team that should throw alot as i don't see them winning alot of games in that division.

having said that i drafted godwin 10 rounds later than olsen in a start up draft earlier this month.
