Re: A possible "buy low period" for Saquon may happen this year

Postby ArrylT » Thu Jul 25, 2019 7:07 am

I guess that depends on what people consider a bottom 10 offense - however if it is points scored or total yardage then no the Giants were not a bottom 10 offence last year

I believe they were 16th or 17th in Points scored in 2018.
For total yardage they were 17th overall.
They were 11th overall for passing yardage.
They were however 24th for rushing yardage.

We saw that did not really affect Barkley - what it could affect is how little usage his backup(s) will see if Barkley stays healthy & on the field.

Still start up 1.01 pick for me - I would consider MT and CMC too at that spot. But noone else.
12 team ppr | 0.5 per reception | 4pts pass TD | 6pts rec/rush TD | 1pts per 25 passing yard | 1 pts per 10 rec/rush yard
Start: 1QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE

QBs: Mahomes - Garoppolo - Teddy B
RBs: Zeke - Chubb - Gio - Ito Smith - Mark Walton - Darrell Williams - Crowell - Gaskin
WRs: OBJ - Kupp - Godwin - DJ Chark - Sammy Watkins - Corey Davis - N'Keal Harry - JJAW - DT

Gave: Melvin, Corey Davis, Guice, 2020 1st
Received: Saquon

I agree that Barkley should still be in consideration for the 1.01 in dynasty.

Interestingly enough, and as always, it all depends on your perspective.

In a 10 team league I think Barkley, as the best asset is the side to have

In a 12 team league I'd rate the 2 sides as being close.

In a 14-16 team league I would think the team getting the package is the better side.

And the DLF Trade Analyzer likes the trade slightly for the team moving Saquon in 12 team ppr but less so in 12 team SF.

Of course it does, all trade calculators favor the side with the greater numbers if you pile up enough pieces....

The trade is a win for the side getting Saquon in all formats.

The DLF trade calculator doesn't do that. It actually might be a bit too far in the other direction actually, as sometimes the value goes *down* when you add a player to the package side.

Also I think in deep leagues (16 teams or maybe 12-14 teams with massive starting requirements) an argument can be made for the package side as studs are depth is more valuable in those formats.

Easily Saquon. Not a believer in Conner and Samuels long-term, and those picks you gave up will probably be late since it made your team better. This is a relatively cheap deal for Saquon.

Yes because at some point someone is going to prefer 10 quarters to 1 dollar because $2.50 is a lot better than $1.00

The trade appears to be a win for the owner getting Saquon in the minds of some owners - it is not the same as being a proven win. That will play out based on how Melvin Gordon, Corey Davis, Derrius Guice (all of whom have a significant base of support in fantasy circles) along with the 2020 1st. If that player turns out to be the next Kamara / Diggs / Kupp / etc - and based on how some people are loving this 2020 class that could be more than just a passing fancy - then people will look at the trade differently a little later on.

$1.00 from one spot in the lineup is worth a lot more than $0.25 at 3 spots in the lineup and one on the bench/IR/waivers
