4th Round Fliers in Rookie Draft

Postby wickerkat1212 » Tue Mar 05, 2019 7:50 am

I know it's way too early, but who are some guys you might find later in the rookie draft? In one league I have the 1.01/1.02 and then nothing until the 4.01 (#37), in another, I have only the 4.11 (#47).

WR Keesean Johnson is one name I'm hearing, not sure if he'll fall that far.
TE Irv Smith Jr—looked pretty good at the combine.
RB Myles Gaskin also had a nice combine.

Thoughts?

Irv Smith would be a steal in the 4th round. He could fall that far because of position but shouldn't IMO.

Another TE that could be really good but patience may be needed is Jace Sternberger. He needs a good situation to get drafted but can really catch the ball. Needs a bit more mass but a solid Y type.

Really hard to tell on WR's and RB's. Pretty deep class with potential but not sure they are round 4 deep.

Yeah, Sternberger is a name I'm hearing more now later. Usually we have 3-6 QBs that push down players, but the QBs are terrible this year IMO (but should still go in the 2nd/3rd for the most part). I'll add Alex Barnes to this list, too.

Drops have always seemed to be a concern for him, but Stanley Morgan is a guy I have liked who had a good workout. Antoine Wesley, Dillon Mitchell, Cody Thompson, and Diontae Johnson are currently some other names I'm looking at for dice rolls at WR. Caleb Wilson, Sternberger and Keenen Brown at TE. At RB, deeper guys I am keeping an eye on are Gaskin, Darwin Thompson, Alexander Mattison (though his 40 time will have be going back to the tape, I thought he would be more of a mid 4.5 guy), and James Williams.

Landing either Myles Gaskin or Antoine Wesley in the 4th round would be a great score.

whatever obscure player goes wayyy higher in the draft than we think they should and are stuck behind someone else and "buried"
ex. Ito, Conner, Jessie Bates,

You don't think so? How high do you think he will go in the NFL draft?

Boykin will be on the cusp of the 4th rd in rookie drafts. Like Ito last year, depending on landing spot.Weak class is only reason he may go before then

Man if these 3 fell to me in the 4th I'd be gleaming.

Keesean I think will be a very underated but will turn into a producer. He will most definitely be a stash and hold but I see a lot of Golden Tate in him. I was a little disgruntled by his 40 time as I thought he was still slightly faster than that but he's very quick and agile and catches almost everything that comes his way. I plan on scooping him in the 3rd of all my drafts ( I made sure I have a 3rd in every league)

Irv Smith would be a steal in anything later than the mid 3rd. Team location could be huge for his draft stock though.

Myles Gaskin I don't see dropping that far but again, if he does I'd scoop him up right away. Even in the 3rd I'd take him if I had an extra pick. He looks very talented and his playstyle will fit in with in a RBBC featuring a heavy running back.

Late 3rd/4th round rookies I usually pick based upon team landing spots ie. Ito last year.If they have even a remotely good spot on a roster I'll take the chance at that point in the draft.
