Dynasty League Football Forum

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new on here and this will be my first year playing dynasty. I've been playing fantasy football for about 10 years now, ever since I was in middle school. I've always wanted to do something more long term and this year, I finally got enough people to play dynasty. I just want to open up a discussion to see what everyone's reasons are for playing dynasty.

My main reasons for playing are the following: first and foremost, it helps build solid long-term relationships with leaguemates! It also keeps me busy during the NFL offseason and keeps me engaged in college football to scout upcoming rookies. It gives me a place to use some of my analytical and math skills and try to develop new metrics, and last but not least, it's fun!

For me it is real simple. It allows me to enjoy NFL and fantasy year round. Working on trades in dynasty is more fun than redraft as there is no rush on trades in the offseason. Prior to playing dynasty I barely paid attention to the combine, free agency, and draft. Since starting dynasty the combine, free agency, and draft have become solid and valuable entertainment consumption points because of dynasty.

Because putting time and work into building my team consistently results in dominating, crushing and anialating my opponents. That is all.

I like the long term investment and planning idea; same reason I love franchise mode in sports video games.

How many Teams are in yoUR league? The team looks pretty good for a Superflex where Mahomes is going 1.01 overall in a lot of them. How did you get Mahomes and MCaffrey? Id lOve to know

Absolutely kandyman! I've always loved the aspect of trades in fantasy and there's so much more strategy to them when it's a dynasty league. The year round appeal is one of my biggest reasons too!

Weknownothing86 - I had 3rd overall pick and picked CMC. In our league for some reason no one took a QB in the first round even though it's superflex (we're all new to dynasty AND to superflex) so I actually traded up in the second round to grab Mahomes. Got real lucky!

Most of us like to study early-season startups for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is for ADP data. Would you mind posting a link to your new league, so we can see it and glean some stuff from it. That would be just lovely.

Why do you play dynasty?

Because some friends asked me to.

Now I continue doing it because dopamine reward from making correct predictions is a scientific fact.

I enjoy both Redraft and Dynasty. Redraft is more for the prizes and dynasty is more for the mind challenges.

Dynasty football allows players to get an experience of building a team and provides a blend of coaching, scouting, and the GM experience.

My most complex league is a full blown IDP with balanced scoring rules, auction, salary caps, contract years, and a F or T Tag annually. This league in particular is by far the most intense and provides a complete experience of all facets of the game. This type of league certainly isn't for everyone due to the work involved but it is active year round and takes a lot of study to remain competitive. The 32 man rosters with 60 total contract years over a 3 year period ensures a ton of activity in trades and roster turn. Players can only be extended in their last year prior to the season and contracts are based on performance. cap hits are at 50% so you have to think like a GM to play this type of Fantasy football.

he scoring system ensures plenty of 1st round draft picks on defense and to compete a working knowledge of defensive schemes is critical.

Will do! It's only an 8 team league, mostly just for fun with a little money involved because we couldn't get enough people to commit long term, but our draft board was on Google Sheets in the link below:
