They pretty much have to. Is Seth Roberts still on the team? Ateman? They need a slot guy.
1WR and 3OL
That’ll work

Roberts is under contract for 2019 and has primarily played out of the slot as is.
So he could be the slot guy - if they don't draft a new one.

I haven't see many people compare the potential effect AB had on Juju to Tyrell's situation. I have tempered expectations and Carr/Oak is a different/worse situation than Pit, but Tyrell has talent and things could really open up for him with AB in town.

Looks like we know which WR is getting grossly overpaid this offseason..
Look at his contract. It's basically a 1 year deal. It's a good move to get an experienced wideout with AB. I think this is the make or break year for Carr. Mayock has stated they need players around him and to protect him to properly evaluate him. The 2nd year is only guaranteed for injury, and there is zero dead cap money for releasing him after this year. Great move by Mayock, IMO.

Yeah I felt a lot better after looking closer at the contract. If the Raiders do not cut him he will have actually earned every penny and I'll accept that.

Great points. They have plenty of cap room this season so there is very little risk (except the owner paying 12 million). Are teams still required to have a minimum salary? If so this move makes even more sense.

Look at when I said this versus when he signed. It was before he even signed anywhere and what he was looking for.

That said - I still would not call this a "great move"; it is a decent move but nothing special.

Well, I think it gives them a real chance to see if Carr can bounce back. Also, if Tyrell does really well, then his 10 million salary next year is not relatively expensive if he produces. I think the contract structure is the great part about it. It gives the team the power to move on, and at the same time, with him and AB, and a (hopefully improved) OL, they can properly evaluate Carr.

He was already going to have standalone value.. he will get more targets but I'm not sure I like it for him.
