It’s a short list, but it’s happened 10x since 2004 by my calculations. That is, never rushed for 1000 yards in a season only to do so for the first time in their 26+ age season.

Most notably, Reuben Droughns did it 2x, Michael Turner did it 3x, and Thomas Jones 5x.

Andy Reid appeared on the @SiriusXMNFL Training Camp tour and said to expect an RBBC in the Chiefs backfield this season. Along with Damien Williams, he pointed out the play of Darrell Williams and also mentioned Carlos Hyde.

Yeah, what's so unreasonable about hating a 27 year old career backup who was just thrown into the fire in KC last year in a desperate situation, and also has an injury plus a veteran starter behind him on the depth chart? SO UNREASONABLE.

I listened to it.

First of, Reid didn’t really say that, he said every RB would get some touches, not equal touches.

Second, it is the same exact thing he said when Hyde went down and Damien took over sole ownership of the backfield. [Patrick Daugherty (@RotoPat) Tweeted:
CBS' Evan Washburn just said Andy Reid told him the Chiefs eventually want a three-man committee between Ware, Damien Williams and Darrel Williams. Dec 2, 2018].

He said Damien, Ware, and Darrel would share touches(which they technically sorta did) but over the final 5 games that’s Damien started(Ware was injured for 2), Damien had 93 touches, Darrel 18, and Ware 1. And 11 of those 18 touches for Darrel came when Damien sat the second half of week 17 to rest for the playoffs.

Well yeah, when was it ever assumed that Williams was going to be a bellcow, as opposed to someone who gets the most touches in a committee?

It is so painfully stupid, and it is just wild grasping at semantic straws. Every piece of evidence we have suggests Damien Williams will be the starter and will get 19-20 touches per game. Period.

Hunt and Ware averaged 17.5-20 touches per game as the starter. Williams averaged 18.6 over his games started last year, which was trending up as the season went on, and if you exclude the half he sat in week 17 the average was 20.6 touches per game.

[0.5ppr]

Ware 2016:
17.6 touches per game, 13.1 FPPG, 0.74 FPPT

Hunt 2017/18:
19.7 touches per game, 18.0 FPPG, 0.91 FPPT

D Williams 2018:
18.6(20.6) touches per game, 22.9(25.0) FPPG, 1.35 FPPT

Well, it kind of is. A lot of opinions are influenced by who you actually own and cost.

Do people really think that Williams can efficiently handle 300+ touches over the course of a season.. AND remain healthy doing it?

Also a guy coming in with fresh legs against defenses that were already getting beat up for 13 weeks last year
