Retirement

Postby skip » Tue Jan 15, 2019 3:51 pm

This probably more appropriately belongs in the off topic section, but WTH..

I just handed over the reins to my only remaining dynasty team yesterday and am retiring from the game. This past season was my 30th so the timing felt right. It also came during the most promising year in Cleveland since the late 80s. It's time to go back and just be a fan again.

Thank you to this community for being a great resource for so many and for not being like many others on the internet.

Best of Luck Skip. The urge to relapse will be strong. Hope your Browns can do well for you.

Thats awesome. You've been playing fantasy almost as long as I've been alive. Let that sink in.

Godspeed Skipper. Del Boca Vista will be lucky to have you as President.

I'm not far behind. I'm down to one league and if it wasn't a behemoth, I'm not sure I'd still be around.

I think about doing this every. Damn. Season. There's a whole lot that's corrupting about fantasy football. We treat players like objects, and we're incentivized to care more about individuals than teams, which is basically a violation of the spirit of the sport.

Sooner or later -- probably sooner -- I'll be following suit.

I'm pulling for your Browns.

Your voice of reason will be missed for sure. Thanks for your input and I will be pulling for the Browns as well.

Perfect timing. I just sold my last share of you a couple of days ago in my Dynasty Football League Fantasy Posting Leagues. Got lukkynumber13 and a 2019 mid second pick in our Rookie Poster draft. I'm pretty sure I nailed it.

I’d buy for an early third,

sell for a mid/late second.

Going out with Ozzie ...

You started fantasy about the time "The Almighty Oz " retired for the first time. Maybe he comes back to breakdown game film with Bernie and figure out how to win the division once again... Or do we dare say (whispering) Super Bowl !

Enjoy your sabbatical in your quest for a Browns resurgence. I'd join you. But after our 33rd season of "Rotisserie" football (our original version after the baseball game) has ended our hometown heroes the Lions give us no hope of championship banners to be hung so we will trudge on in pursuit of our fantasy dreams.

May you enjoy your new found free time to the fullest  but if the bug ever gets to you we hope to see you around here as a consultant. Who knows, maybe even a podcast is in your future.

One last bone to pick with you though. Do you remember your very first post here @ DLF ?

Good luck skip and best of luck to your Browns.

I would be lying if I didn't sometimes wonder how football would be as an observer without fantasy football.

All the best.
