Off Season Targets [for consolidation]

Postby Elroypedro » Wed Jan 09, 2019 9:52 pm

I’d like to hear who people are targeting this off season.

You could call them “buys,” or guys you have a feeling about and are willing to go after and pay market price or more because you think they are worth it to get your guys, or just guys you like slightly better than the market does.

Another way to think about it is to take my position - I want to offload about 4-5 depth guys and maybe a pick or two and consolidate them into 1-2 better players to open up roster space for myself going into the rookie draft this off season. I don’t want to pay for super studs, just solid pieces that are good values. Who would those 1-2 players you are targeting be?

I’m not looking for lottery tickets or wild upside guys, just ones you’d be willing to go out and pursue and pay for or take a chance on because you want them on your team.

Feel free to list QB 1s and 2s. WR and RB 1s, 2s, and 3s. TE 1s and 2s. I’ll start with guys I am thinking about targeting:

QB1 Goff, Winston, Mayfield, Trubisky
QB2 Rosen
RB1 Cook, DJ, KJ
RB2 Hunt, McKinnon
RB3 R Freeman
WR1 Evans, Diggs
WR2 Woods, Kupp, DJ Moore, Lockett, Boyd
WR3 Samuel, Humphries, Kirk
TE1 Njoku, Henry, Howard
TE2 Jarwin, Dissly

*obviously I left out guys I already have on my team in sig

Thanks for your input!

If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Those are deep stashes. Not at all what I was asking about. I want to know the players you think are good targets that you can use a bunch of those depth pieces from the thread you linked plus maybe some picks to consolidate into getting.

So I just read through every post in that thread. There is zero relevance to my question. That is a thread of very deep stashes. Unless you are suggesting I should bundle up a bunch of depth pieces like Alshon, Shepard, MVS, Breida, Adams, and multiple picks to consolidate them into Justin Watson and Tyler Conklin?

Why be so low effort and clearly purposefully unhelpful???

Who's the one being low effort? Use the search function. There's half a dozen threads discussing buy lows, stashes, trade targets, off-season trades, etc.

Obj's value I'd down and no longer seen as the #1 dynasty wr or even the 1b to Hopkins. He's like 5th now and I think he goes back to 1 if Giants can improve

Dalvin Cook's value is shot from injury concerns and in efficiency but again I think he comes back. I just got him for two late 1sts and a late second

Evan Engram has practically disappeared. Do you belive in him?

Mike Evans' value slid back once again despite being the wr8 on the year with a roller coaster qb. Probably the cheapest wr with good potential to be a top 5 stud out there

Locket would be a good buy for depth. People just hate him despite all he does is produce

Rashad Penny could be a cheap but chancy buy if you belive in him. Leonard Fournette another chancy buy that could work out in your favor (or blow up)

Someone might actually let go of Aaron Rodgers now

Just a few names in no particular order, I understand the point of this post
R. Freeman I cant trust Lindsay
K Johnson Love this guy for next season
M Williiams Yes Henry is back but Williams has earned the targets needed
Diggs Theilen slowed down significantly and is older, Diggs is also more talented
D. Freeman He will come back fine
Aj Green One More season at least

But Williams still isn't getting consistent targets

A "slowed down", older Thielen had 8 less yards than Diggs for the 2nd half of the season. Haven't we been saying Diggs is more talented for a couple of years now?
D. Freeman He will come back fine
People were saying the same thing last year. There's a good chance he's not fine.
Aj Green One More season at least
Maybe, but he definitely hasn't look like his old self.

I think Penny is a great target. His totals were very underwhelming, and his usage was extremely frustrating, but he was clearly the most explosive RB on that team and showed what he was capable of to those who were paying attention. The draft pedigree and pure talent surely has to win out eventually (right?).

My point is that I think Williams will get those consistent targets next season, especially if T Williams leaves

We have been saying that about diggs because he is more talented, doesn't mean he is a better WR at this point, he is also younger, Theilen is great and he has undoubtedly been the 1A, however I think next season he becomes the 1B

Ill still Take D Freeman in that offense over many other RBs

You're definitely right, but to play devil's advocate, there's a reason these are off season targets. You're hoping to get them for cheap because of the obvious question marks.

Oh, I agree. I was questioning the rational.
