Draft pick trade

Postby Kelldon » Thu Dec 20, 2018 1:23 pm

There was a trade in my league between 2 owners. Trade was Josh Gordon for a 2019 conditional 1st. Condition was that if Gordon got suspended this year it cancelled the 2019 1st. The owner that was set to receive the 2019 1st says he should still get the pick because the other owner is done for the year(not in playoffs) and therefore is not affected by Gordon's suspension. It seems to me that it still happened this year and the other owner should get their pick back. What are yall thoughts?

The pick doesn’t convey. It’s still this season, and that’s what the condition was, so...

The playoff status isn’t relevant. Bad luck but that’s how trades go sometimes.

The condition was the pick gets returned if Gordon got suspended this year. Josh Gordon got suspended this year, therefore the conditional 1st is returned.

Doesn’t matter if other owner is out of the playoffs, is in the championship game, or anything else.

The condition was spilled out and the condition was met. Enough said. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Seems like sour grapes to me. eliminated or not, the suspension still occurred during this season. We don't allow conditional picks for this reason. If they only stated this season, then I think the NFL season should outweigh anything else. Next time they should stipulate the week of the season they want to end the condition.

concrete ... if it was written as suspended this season that has happened so condition was met so the pick goes back. Seems pretty cut and dried .

I'm looking at my calendar. It's 2018. Was the offer accepted in 2018?

There are still two weeks left in the season. He might have had a tiny argument to expose a loophole if it happened during the NFL Playoffs, and would still be wrong I believe. This is a guy getting cold feet way after the fact and realizing he made a trade that did not turn out in his favor. Bad trade or not, he gambled and lost. I am asking Vegas for a refund of my futures that did not hit, I change my mind. They had bad luck and injuries, along with the refs screwing them during some games.

The owner that was trying to get the pick is a moron and it's clear the pick doesn't convey.

gordon got suspended before the season ended so conditional pick goes back, pretty cut and dry IMO

Piling on, he made the condition... Now deal with it. He had to know the probability of a suspension was high. Or I guess not if he made the deal...

No offense to the OP but this has the feel of a Turcorox911 job.

The answer seems pretty cut and dry
