Royce Freeman
Re: Is Royce Freeman getting too much hype?
Yes Royce is in a great position to succeed and he was probably a more interesting prospect than most people gave him credit for. Taking him 1.02 seems kinda aggressive to me unless you are a strong contender and absolutely need rookie year production.

royce freeman thoughts?
whats everyones thoughts on him? i know lindsay is taking some of the goal line touches and pass catching downs so wondering on how far that brings his value down. do you think he has more to come that he hasnt shown yet? I get its still early on in the season let alone his career but seems like he was worth way more in the pre season than he is now. i guess im just curious on what you guys expect from him going forward.

Re: royce freeman thoughts?
He was overhyped during the off-season purely based on situation. This always happens to a couple rookie RBs each year. In the game I was able to watch of.his last week he didn't look bad at all. He is a 2 down thumper and he does that well (averaging a healthy 5 ypc). People expecting more were just dreaming. Lindsay looks solid but i still worry about his durability. If either of them goes down I think the other becomes a high end RB2 with some RB1 weeks.

The plus on him was situation..
Lindsay took that away very quickly.
Yet another lesson to not buy into situation for running backs.

Re: royce freeman thoughts?
I don't know what other games people are watching, but I would certainly not being calling Freeman a JAG. The guy has looked phenomenal. He is looking like a 230lb RB that went to the combine and put up great agility numbers for his size (6.9 3 cone and 4.15 20 yard shuttle...unreal) and was one of college footballs best producers!
The problem is that Lindsay has also looked good, and coaching hasn't used Freeman as they should. That should change but is admittedly, hopeful. I wasn't heavily invested in Freeman until recently, but i'm watching a guy that can easily be a RB1 if he gets more carries. His vision is absolutely incredible, he is juking tacklers, breaking arm tackles and zipping around fluidly. Extremely exciting to watch him move. Lets not forget that this guy can catch too, and he hasn't even really been used for that.
My point is that Freeman has shown some seriously nice flashes in the NFL, has the college production, size and athleticism, and if the opportunity goes up, we're looking at a Major Upside RB1 opportunity here. I will eat my hat if i'm wrong, as I traded Guice for Freeman this week. I love Guice, don't get me wrong, but bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, and Freeman's floor/ceiling is looking tantalizing over Guice coming off a torn ACL in 2019.

Re: royce freeman thoughts?
I'd love hear your analysis as to how Guice is a better asset at this point. Can you please share?dynastyninja wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 5:23 pm Freeman has looked pretty good, but he's miles below Guice for me. He's much closer to a JAG than Guice.
-Guice was the #2 back in many dynasty rankings (including mine), but he was only one RB pick ahead of Freeman in the NFL draft.
-Freeman is playing at a high level now, with limited opportunity. Guice won't be on the field until 2019, and likely won't be 100% until closer to 2020.
-Even when Guice comes back, if he was given the same opportunity (touches) that Freeman is currently, could he produce better than Freeman currently is? I don't know if he could, its possible, but Freeman's production and clear on field talent is what you want Guice to be...So i'm not sure how someone could say he is miles ahead.
100%. Anyone that is watching the film or the games when these plays are happening, should see that there is clearly something going on with this Freeman guy. He is wicked talented, and could be a diamond in the rough. If he regains his freshman/sophmore year form, this dude could be legit elite.

Re: royce freeman thoughts?
He looks better now than he did on his upperclassman Oregon tape. Less of a grinder. Seems closer to his form when he was a sophomore, and I thought he looked like a future Pro Bowler.
That said, Denver's O-line is very good in Adjusted Line Yards so far this season (3rd in the NFL). They were good last year too (9th), so it isn't a fluke. Needless to say, it's easier for RBs to look good when the line is doing most of the 1st-level work for them, and even a lot of the 2nd-level work.

Re: royce freeman thoughts?
Yeah, there was a consensus that if Royce could recover fully and regain form of his early look at Oregon, he could make an argument for top 2 RB in the class. I think its clear that he is closer to that than his final year there. His oline playing well is certainly beneficial, but all of this to me just means if you are a win now team, you have to go after him. If they feed him or lindsay goes down, it is going to be a league winner.ninotoreS wrote: ↑Sat Oct 06, 2018 6:09 am He looks better now than he did on his upperclassman Oregon tape. Not just RBs. You gotta be careful with any player whose (perceived) value rockets after the NFL draft. Imagine the Niners drafting a WR in the 3rd round in 2019.
