Who are WR off season trade targets?

Postby kris_kapsner » Wed Dec 12, 2018 7:10 am

Who are the WR's that you would target this off season that have WR1/2/3 upside that are WAY cheaper than they should be going into this off season?

Golden Tate has had a poor start to his time in Philly.

Mike Williams in San Diego. I think he may climb the depth chart to be the #2 behind Keenan Allen.

Here are a few names I would be looking into:

Curtis Samuel: Incredibly young for a 2nd year player. Should have the WR2 job locked up, and Olsen's target share won't be handled by one player alone. He has the speed and agility I look for, a high draft pedigree relative to price and a QB who's advancing age will be forcing him to rely on his arm more than his legs. Over the next three years, I am confident he'll outperform his current ADP (WR53).

Adam Humphries: He will be a free agent after the season is over. Tampa Bay is an awfully crowded place for a receiver, and he's been productive despite that lack of opportunity. I don't know that I like him to produce long term, but I see a hype window building after some team overpays him in the free agent market. At WR63, it's a cheap proposition to find out.

Marqise Lee: I feel dirty even suggesting this one. I wouldn't pay much, with his health history, but Jacksonville is on the hook for $7 million for him next season. He has been productive in the past, and with Bortles finally gone, the Jacksonville WR core could be in for a huge bump, so long as they do not hire Tom Coughlin to be head coach. He is currently WR90(!). A price point so low, to ask about him would make his current owner suspicious.

Dante Pettis. His route running is amazing and he has very good hands. Has looked good when he has played, but an injury leading to lack of playing time has lowered his stats and in lots of leagues probably price. I have a feeling his price varies a lot from league to league so could be a huge steal in some leagues.

Love the Curtis Samuel calls. In regards to a previous poster saying Bortles finally gone I highly doubt that as his dead cap hit for next yr is 16.5 mil iirc. As much as Jags fans and fantasy fans want him gone I don't think it happens until 2020 where his dead cap hit is $5 mil. Tho I could be wrong and they decide to eat that hit.

I was referring to this report with Bortles. The cap hit would be eight million stretched over two years. A rookie QB contract would go a long way to offset that dead money. (https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/12/07/blake ... 019-season)

JAX's WR corps may be a decent target, but "upside" will be somewhat contingent on whether they bring in a Veteran or draft a rookie IMO.

He does look fantastic. If you can get him for less than a first, it's a no-brainer for me. When dynasty rookie draft season rolls around, I may give a late first.

If Corey Davis finishes slow, some of his owners could be throwing in the flag.

I would buy high on Chris Godwin.

I will also be trying to buy Corey Davis 1 last time.

Pending coaching/QB changes, I will be looking at Dede Westbrook.

I would also rather pay premium for DJ Moore than be cheap with Samuel.

I think I'll be checking in on Jarvis Landry prices as well.

Also Will Fuller.

Depends on my roster situation but as long as I don't have to pay 2 firsts I would do it. Or if I had multiple 1sts in this draft, and I have a good roster, I'd try that move.

Better move might also be to wait until 2019 and see if he has a sophomore struggle, and then buy. But you could also miss out entirely if he takes off.

Tyrell Williams will be a UFA this offseason. Will probably leave to go be a #1 or #2 somewhere.

Makes him and Mike Williams buys this offseason imo.
