I assume that means you advocate either WR/TE or WR/RB/TE start positions then?
I'm advocating any option where I'm not forced to start a useless player against an elite league-winning piece that only 2 people can have in a league.
So...be one of those teams?

There are other very useful tight ends. Kittle, Ebron, Burton, Howard, Cook to name some.

You can make the argument about rbs too. If you don’t have Gurley Kamara or Hunt, you’re at a huge disadvantage. If you don’t have Mahomes, you’re at a disadvantage.
How can I bridge the positional advantage of the other guy having Mahomes, when I've only got Josh Rosen or Case Keenum? #saynotoQBs

It's impossible to overcome that type of positional advantage. I'm getting my face kicked in.
Cry me a river. I faced Ertz, Ebron and Hooper across my 3 leagues and I'm about to be 0-3 unless OBJ and Barkley go nuclear tomorrow night. Smoke is flying from my ears right now...
That could just be faulty wiring though.

Gurley, Kamara, or Hunt provide consistent points, generally. I agree there. What I do not agree with, is that you are at a positional disadvantage when facing them.

Here is an example: You can line up the top 12 runningbacks, and give one of each to each team. The bottom performer will likely have no more than a 6-10 point difference in weekly scoring at that position. Now factor in the variable scoring at your RB2 position. The scoring is more likely to balance out.

Now line up the top 12 tightends that MUST be started in a 1 TE league. The point difference between Ertz and Kelce on a weekly basis between their top performance and the TE12 on any given week is substantial. Who can even predict who the top 12 tightends will be on a given week?

I realize this is cherry picking, but we just saw Ertz drop 40 points in full PPR tonight. What other tight end can do that? That will literally win you the league as long as you qualify for the playoffs and have Zach Ertz weeks 14-16. It won't even be close. Two balanced teams that are merely separated by one owning Ertz and the other has literally any other tightend in the field will tip the scale.

I don't play Superflex, so Mahomes is not as big of an issue when I have Goff or Newton dropping 50 points occasionally, and maybe scoring 8 less points a week. There are at least 12 high scoring QBs at any given time that make QBs a surplus position in a 1QB format. I've considered moving to Superflex just for that reason.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone propose removing tight ends from fantasy

Edit, or if anyone (like me) had jjwatt in that 2014 (I think) year. In my league watt out scored the de2 by 108 points :wtf:

I was more inclined to a starting lineup that doesn't require them. Such as a WR/RB/TE slot in lieu of a standalone TE slot.

Like Gurley through last year's playoff run or Peyton Manning in 2013. That's just tough luck if you don't have one.

Zach Ertz saved my season. Heading into SNF, I was down 39 to a team I’m battling with for the last playoff spot. His score was final. I only had Ertz left. I won on the last play of the game. So awesome! I feel like sending him a handwritten thank you note. What a freakin’ stud!

haha had a similar situation a few weeks back when Saquon won it for me on that meaningless 2 pt conversion at the end of the game. Feels great, enjoy it!

He’s been on the comeup and looks like today was a breakout game!
He looked great. The only issue is low target volume. Hard trust him enough to start him in fantasy.
He's had 6 or 7 targets each of the last 4 games. Not yet double digits, but improving.

I am not sure who I want to win MNF - I suppose the Giants since that would give the Raiders sole possession of last yay  - but it would be nice to see the Giants keep losing and hear the narrative they should have gone QB at 2nd overall continue. 8-)
