I would not consider Mariota to be a system QB or a QB that can only thrive in one system. However he does seem like a QB that works within the structure of what he is given, and is not the type of QB to freelance/create much on his own. As such, his development may need better coaching, so that Coaches can give him better structure and better plays to fit his skillset. In other words Mariota could use someone similar to what Winston is getting in Arians. I guess we'll see if his QB coach (Pat Ohara former QB himself) can fit the bill this year.

Never owned him never will.

He is in line with a ton of very average NFL QB’s over the years.

Decision making is suspect
No killer instinct
Doesn’t really throw players open.
Injury risk
Running team.

Could he turn it around, sure but this is his last year to prove it.

Much risk with this player.

He has the look of an above average back up

These 2 right here. Never played all 16 games in 4 seasons, and it looks like he is waiting for Oregon sized throwing windows to open before he releases the ball. Those windows just aren't there very much in the NFL. I agree he looks like a quality backup that could maybe have some good stretches if everything around him went perfectly.

Didn't he flash towards the end of his Rookie or Sophmore year? I remember him being the overall QB1 for a 4-6 week stretch a couple of years ago.

He doesn't deserve all the blame for what has been a bland offense with little weapons surrounding him. His best weapon has been who, Walker? That isn't factored in enough in this discussion, IMO. Plus, isn't he loved by teammates and a good leader?

He's a buy in 2QB leagues if you can get him at QB3 prices. There's enough upside that I'm willing to gamble on him at these prices. He doesn't carry much if any value in start one leagues.

He had success his rookie season in the same circumstances that Jared Goff/Mitchell Trubisky looked horrendous in. (run heavy offense with no receiving threat).

But I get it, people are slaves to recency bias; and overall circumstances are undervalued at the QB position.

You can make a pretty sound case that he's a bust; just as easily as you could make a case that he hasn't been given the circumstances needed to truly evaluate him.

He's a buy for me as well, but I can understand the trepidation here after 2 straight years of severely underwhelming play.

If things don't work out this year I'll probably own him on every roster; I believe he'd flourish on a lot of other teams.

I'd be happy to see him succeed. But I'm of the mindset that his career will ultimately look similar to that of his current backup.

The Titans will try to roll with him as their franchise QB with middling results, eventually realizing that he is what he is. A desirable NFL #2 or "bridge" QB, but not a true difference maker.

All conjecture obviously, but I haven't seen enough progression from him to feel otherwise at this point.

no killer instinct might be the biggest lie on this website, go watch the jaguars win and get in game and the KC wild card game from 2 years ago and tell me he doesn't have a killer instinct

I think he's a buy in superflex his value is so low but in 1QB leagues he's now worth a spot

He's definitely worth a roster spot in Dynasty leagues.

In redraft, 100% agree though.

A broken clock is right twice in 24 hours. Go look at all his other games and report back.

Imagine still making fantasy football decisions on whether or not you think a player has “killer instinct” in 2019.

Mariota has been a QB2 each of the last 3 years, but has a QB3 ADP. He has the best receiving options of his career. He’s an easy buy low in Superflex startups.

lol ive watched every snap of his career, go watch his tape vs the lions his sophomore year or the cowboys game this year on MNF or the chargers game in london this year when he was playing with 1 and 1/4 of a hand .. list goes on and on . i agree hes not a good fantasy qb but to say he doesn't have a killer instinct is laughable

Thank you! Some common sense is always refreshing.
