I be he retires. With the stalement with the Steelers he said he had no problem retiring since he didn't need the money. I don't see any team offering his the guaranteed money he will want. Once he realizes this, he hangs it up.

My answer to that as a Chiefs fan - Always. :P

But come on, they have been a joke since they hired Gruden, and just Gruden and the whole team and organization is a joke and we just kind of forget that in all the drama.

I mean they never should have brought him in since it doesn't fit what they are trying to do at all. They should be tanking again for another year at least. It was a terrible hire and they ended up, imo, causing alot of drama over the whole thing themselves.

I don't excuse AB. He is also insane.

Mayock’s in over his head. You don’t fine elite players for missing practice unless its just a ploy to get them back to the negotiating table.
I'm going to disagree with this. I don't care how good of a player you are, you're not above the team. I wish they would have suspended him the 4 games instead though; probably would have sent a stronger message.
They cut him. Can’t get much stronger of a message than that. Suspending him four games seems like it would have triggered the same voiding of the guaranteed money and led us to this exact same spot.

No question "N" word is worse than cracker and widely considered one of the worst if not the worst racial slur, but cracker is still a racial slur. Any and every racial slur should be seen as wrong and taken seriously. Even though most ppl might not be that hurt by cracker its wrong and the intent behind the word is to hurt, offend, and disrespect someone.

Agreed. Regardless of the result of this, the Gruden looks like a joke. He let AB pretty much do whatever he wanted with no penalty until Mayock stepped in. They wanted to bring him back after all that stuff.

Letting any player get special treatment is a great way to lose a locker room.

People here that are trying to reason that this situation is in any way the Raiders' fault as an organization are down the rabbit hole IMO. You can opine they made a bad decision to sign him in the first place. But this entire saga has been created by the player, not the organization. The helmet saga was not of the Raiders doing, nor was his foot issue. The team tried to work with him while those dramas unfolded, but even after AB's appeal was denied, and his feet were healed he continued to rail against the system.

Mayock/Gruden are at least trying to change the culture that has existed in Oakland. The fining of Brown had to be done to show that his type of behavior would not be accepted without consequence. What's the player's reaction? Complain, post a private conversation on social media (not the first time), and request his release. I'm glad the Raiders complied. Goodbye malcontent, who never showed any interest in actually playing football during his short stay with the team.

Cryogate, then Helmetgate, followed by insubordination in front of the entire team. This guy hardly even practiced at all. I question his desire to even play football at this point. I won't be shocked if we've seen the last of AB on the field.

I was iffy on the signing, but the cost was minimal, so the upside was great. It didn't work out, and they ended up setting the right example of who is ultimately in charge. They will move on from this. On to Denver. LOL.

What team is going to guarantee him any sort of money at this point? Serious question.

There's a difference between being a "Diva" and a problem child. AB is clearly in the latter camp, as he's now caused serious friction and dysfunction with two organizations in less than a year. His behavior isn't that of someone who wants to be part of a team, or an organization.

I'd probably hold him if he were on my roster. But if/when he signs elsewhere i'd be selling for just about whatever I can get. In addition to being a malcontent, he's old. Get out as soon as you can net a ROI.

fixed it for you. and suspending him the 4 games and voiding the guaranteed money shows him that you're still his boss. He wanted released, and once again, they gave him what he wanted. that's why it sends a stronger message.

I've sent out a few offers for AB; a 2021 3rd and nothing more... I figure if he does sign somewhere else I can flip pretty easily, if not, I lose a 3rd... 2 years out.

Raiders offensive player in text to me: “Everyone is happy he’s gone. We’re tired of the drama. Time for us to be a team again.”

Raiders player added he was well liked in the locker room but the situation became too extreme even for the people who liked him.-

because "mandatory" means just that... you're required to be there. Regardless of any prior success you have had. He's not above anyone else on the team. Not showing up for mandatory events is unacceptable.... or does that not register to you?
