NFL tested the helmet model AB wants. It failed the modern tests even if he did find a 2011 made version to use.

Raiders GM Mayock says AB is upset and missed practice because of the news of his helmet, not his feet. Basically says AB needs to decide if he's actually going to play for the team or not.

“AB is not here today,” Mayock said. “Here’s the bottom line: He’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that, we appreciate that. But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief. So from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all in or all out. We’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going, and we’re hoping AB is going to be a big part of it, starting Week One against Denver. End of story, no questions.”

Anyone think that ABs latest tantrum has more to do with not being the highest psid WR in the league anymore?

I know he was vocal about the helmet switch before but his first threat to not play if he couldn't wear his old helmet came a few days after MT signed his contract. AB knows he can't hold out over a contract he just signed a couple of months ago, so he ups the ante on a different issue so everyone knows he us still Mr Big Checks.

I've been playing both sides...I've sold him everywhere I owned him, but have also sent out offers at a price point where I'm comfortable with the risk/reward. There's certainly boatloads of both.

Diva behaviour doesn't bother me if the player isn't hurting anyone. But talk of two years of skipping/tuning out of team meetings makes me queasy.

Before all the recent drama the prices I saw AB going for were around one and a half firsts, so that sounds about right.

In an auction league I sold AB for Pettis and 30 dollars...roughly a 1sts salary. Most recently sold AB for Boykin, Robby Anderson, Zay and Shepard. Neither is a blow away but at this point I could see the Raiders moving him somewhere all over again.

Maybe there's a leather helmet that would work for him?

Hard Knocks is such a shill for NFL

Allllll of this made for TV reality drama available, and they just completely downplayed it. Not saying they gotta embellish it, but it definitely felt swept under the rug. Gruden "Oh, him not being at practice because he's standing up for what he believes in with the helmet is perfectly fine. No problem at all missing chemistry time with his first new NFL qb of his career. He's doing his American duty." or whatever the hell that garbage scripted line was.

We'll never know. Surprised they left in the part about Waller saying "queer".

This is going to end in disaster for the Raiders, and I think they may have known that going in, but it's going to happen a lot sooner than anticipated.
