Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
Re: Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
He's just so raw. If he'd gone to the Saints or the Niners - somewhere where the OC can manufacture touches for him into space and coach him up - then maybe I get excited. As it stands - he has so much to work on from a refinement point of view to becoming a proper WR. His releases are bad, his route running is bad. As Aussie said - the health issues just compound it.
He needed to go somewhere with a braintrust that had a plan for him. He went to Jacksonville, a team dead-set on losing as many games as possible next year. RIP.

Shenault does not look like a 4.58 guy when you watch him play. The injury had a clear effect on his 40. It's very easy to see the Cordarelle Patterson comparisons (in a good way) when you watch him, but I don't think he's as raw. He's a playmaker at different spots in the formation and moves ridiculously for a player who's 6'1, 230.
Health is the obvious factor and it still depends on Jacksonville's plan to use him. Also depends on your tolerance for these types of players who are basically low floor, high ceiling.

Is Shenault's floor actually low, though?Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 4:23 pm Shenault does not look like a 4.58 guy when you watch him play. The injury had a clear effect on his 40. Lower than a lot of the WR's in this draft class, for sure. But I wouldn't consider his bust rate especially high when compared to WRs of the last 5 draft classes

He sucks. Don't bother investing unless he falls to the 3rd of your draft.

Health definitely worries me. Also, I agree there's no way he's a 4.58 guy (even at 4.58 he's still got a good speed score with his size though). Along with Reagor, I have their 40 times circled as underrated...Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 4:23 pm Shenault does not look like a 4.58 guy when you watch him play. As to Mild's point, I would've loved the SF landing spot. I've had troubles placing Aiyuk in my rookie ranks and it got to him vs Shenault today. I like Shenault much more on tape and I usually don't care for the Wildcat RB type plays, but he's such a strong physical playmaker. Aiyuks game doesn't impress me too much and I don't like his BA, but I can't help but think I'd rather have him than Shenault due to the 49ers with a wide open depth chart and great offensive mind that used a 1st to get him.
Re: Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
Tough offense to predict. Chark blew up for half the season and looked pedestrian the second half. Conley had hit and miss games, as did dede. Cole was largely invisible. Its crowded in here.

He and Edwards are my late 2nd, early 3rd targets. LS is a first round talent that went to a situation with WR1 up for grabs. Yes, please.
Re: Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
You've got to think that the most likely outcome of Shenault in his first year is that he doesn't do much, or is at best, inconsistent. It's extremely hard to get excited about anything in Jacksonville this season outside of the 'Stache - and even then, realistically, that's more about the Jorts and the lols.
My advice? If you want him, try buy him in a year. Let someone else take the risk and immediate value-hit in this draft.

Re: Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
Neither is making it there judging by my recent drafts, especially if you are in a 1QB league. Laviska is early-mid 2, and Edwards mid-2 late 2 in my SF drafts so far.dipANDglide wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 7:16 pm He and Edwards are my late 2nd, early 3rd targets. Edit: Both 12 team SF leagues
Laviska: 2.03 and 2.05
Edwards: 2.05 and 2.09
Is where they've been drafted.
Re: Laviska Shenault Jr. — 2020 1.01?
Yeah that's the range I assumed they would go. Between the WR6-8 for Shenault and a little higher for Edwards, with 5 RB ahead of them for sure, but possibly only a few more. 0 TE... And then if it's SF, 3 QB.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 7:24 pmNeither is making it there judging by my recent drafts, especially if you are in a 1QB league. He was a available at 2.09 in my league. I haven't found many people who really want LS.

Interesting that he's falling that late. We haven't drafted yet, but I can't see myself passing on him at 2.03 if he's there.

I've given a half a dozen posts or more in here over the last 4 months as to why Shenault is awful. It hasn't changed in my mind.
In fact him falling as far as he did only further proves my initial analysis of him.

Falling in the NFL draft? He was pick 42
Curious to see why you feel so strongly about him. I haven't really seen anyone that actively dislikes him until now.
