Cooper Kupp - Value Up?

Hmmmm...so I sent an offer of Kupp for Hill and received a counter of Kupp for Hill + late first (7-1).

Counter or pull the trigger? I know Hill is an elite talent but also a DV suspension risk.

You offered Kupp for Hill and he countered Hill + 1 for Kupp? If you were willing to do the first trade why wouldn't you do the second, and why would he counter with that?

I think he meant he has to add the first. It's just written out wrong.

Nah, I would do it straight up, but not adding anything of any significance (and a 2 this year is pretty significant) to get this done.

Kupp also is a Boy Scout compared to all the Hill allegations. Talented beyond belief but the off field concerns would worry me some

I get Hill is a douchebag, but it really surprises me that people wouldn't add to Kupp to get Hill.

If Kupp is really being valued close to Hill, he is an excellent sell high at this point.

People freak out when he has a bad game, but suddenly he had a big game against one of the worst secondaries in the league (pre-injury) who also had a bunch of injuries, making them even worse and he is God again?

Kupp was WR3 in both PPG and total points prior to the Bengals game, so let's not act like his value is primarily a product of a blowup game against a terrible team. I don't think people were generally freaking out about him prior to that game so much as a couple of anti-Kupp people were trying to use the 2 prior games as proof that Kupp isn't an actual WR1.

Also it's not just that Hill is a douchebag. Some people genuinely fear that he will get Ray Rice'd out of the NFL if he ever f's up on camera.

I think it's hard to sell high on a guy when you are shopping him. Making an offer of Kupp for Adams is basically saying "I don't think Kupp will continue this production and I think Adams is better, are you dumb enough to think Kupp is better?" You need to express interest in Adams and then later work Kupp into the conversation, like... Hm, I know you wanted picks and players for Adams... I might consider moving Kupp if Adams is coming back, how do you feel about Kupp?

Positional 1-1 offers always seem off to me as it's basically saying that I like your player more than the one I'm offering. Unless of course it's a team construction type thing like sending Julio to a contender for like Sutton on a rebuilding team.

Trading for an injured player can pretty much always be couched a team construction type thing. If the Adams owner needs wins now and isn't sure when Adams will be back at 100% he might reasonably prefer the high WR1 production that Kupp is currently putting up, and a team that is either rebuilding or solidly in the playoffs might be less concerned about Adams' injury.

Also "Are you dumb enough to think Kupp is better" is an awfully cynical way to view that sort of deal. People can legitimately have different opinions about players.
