Dallas TE's ?

What do you guys think this final depth chart will look like? I have 4 of them stashed in some leagues but have to cut rosters before the season starts. How would you rank these guys?

It'll be TE by committee in an anemic passing offense.

I'd take a stab at Blake Jarwin. Probably a long shot to be a decent fantasy start, but he has the best shot.

Rico or Schultz

Depends on roster sizes, churnable space, and need for a starting TE. I've got Jarwin in a league that I lost Hunter Henry with no other decent TE.

For this season, just take whoever started with the 1st team offense. I don't know if he'll be fantasy relevant long term though. The Cowboys didn't really have a chance to prepare for Wittens' departure via the draft.

Dallas fans on twitter are really salty about Rico Gathers still being third-string. Mostly because Rico made another Rico-type catch in preseason. What those fans don't appreciate is that Gathers still has very little route-craft. If a receiver isn't where he's supposed to be, he's probably not gonna get targeted. And if he rarely separates from coverage, then even if he's a wizard at contested catches, he's still a riskier choice for a target than another receiver who's truly open.

It is going to be interesting to review this at the end of year and see if any of them are worth more than they are now - or if this is a TE version of the Cowboys RBs in 2015 (ie they'll acquire or draft a real TE next year).

Completely Agree. This is where you can find value. No one in the world wants Blake Jarwin but I've liked what limited play I've seen.

I agree about Jarwin and I don’t think Rico makes the final 53, he can’t really be trusted with his assignments and even though Swaim will be on the field a lot, he’s mainly the blocking TE.
