Is Larry Fitzgerald Still A Top 12 WR Talent Wise?

I ask because somebody listed out prototypical #1 WRs in the Gallup thread I think, but I don't think I saw Fitz listed there. IIRC, here's the list of who all was there.

AB
Julio
OBJ
Demariyus
AJ Green
Hopkins
Mike Evans

I'm probably missing someone since I'm blanking a little, but that's not a bad list at all.

Depends on your definition of talent. If we're talking physical talent, I'd say no. If we just kind of look at each receiver as a whole right now, I could see the argument for him. PFF had him as the #9 WR last year.

I think Larry Fitzgerald, coming off 3 100 catch seasons, can still be described as really freaking good. Whether that makes him top 12 or not, idk, but he's up there.

I’d say NFL talent, yes, his quiet and steady style keeps him from being named around the top now but I think he’s still got it.

As far as fantasy points, there are way more than 12 WRs I’d take over him even in a redraft

Agree, I think it depends on what you mean by talent. He still has one of the best, if not the best hands in the NFL and runs routes better than most, but if you're asking physical talent, then he probably wouldn't crack my top 12. With that said, there are a lot of WRs who are physically talented, but not good WRs.

Yes I believe Fitz will have another 100 reception season. Bradford highly targeted slot receivers Danny Amendola and Jordan Matthews.

I aquired Gurely this offseason but my Fitzgerald trade was a thing of beauty. The Fitz owner had a trade brewing with another owner. I snagged Fitz for 2.10 and a 2019 3rd. I then contacted the owner who lost the bidding war and sold Crabtree to him for a 2019 2nd.

I'm incredibly excited at the idea of having Fitzgerald as my FLEX.

Probably is if you own him. Fitz won't command much of a return these days given this is in all likelihood his last season.

He will be missed when he hangs them up!

I love Larry, was tough trading him away last year. And I can see how last year he was still good, but he hasn't been fetching good trade value for years now due to his age except to a very small percentage of interested owners.

Taught me was best to have held him and let him retire on your team at this point.

I expect a big drop off this year (a year later than I gambled when trading him away). Why he didn't retire now and decided to come back to that suddenly hot mess mystifies me. Maybe he's going to play it out till the bitter end like Rice after all.

Is he close to any major recieving records? He may be trying to solidify his legacy at this point.

Or maybe he just truly enjoys the game. It’s hard for some to walk away.

There's a few that he can hit with another solid season:
Another 92 receptions and he'll be #2 all time, passing Tony Gonzalez but behind Jerry Rice.
390 receiving yards to go to be #2 all time, passing TO and again behind Jerry Rice.
He can climb a few spots on the receiving TD list, where he's currently #8. 1 more to tie Gonzalez at #7, 4 more to tie Antonio Gates at #6, and 18 more to tie Marvin Harrison at #5.

I didn't even get that!

I was rebuilding the team-1 in sig 2 years ago (so, he's had 2 straight stud seasons since this time), and I sold him for the right to move from round 3 to round 2 in the 2016 draft :(

Yup, I basically swapped Crabtree for Fitz and moved up in the 2nd round for only a future 3rd. I'm EXTREMELY bearish on Crabtree this season. He's back to being a #1 WR in an extremely boring offense. He had trouble four years ago shaking off number 1 corners. I don't expect that problem to go away at the age of 31.

P.S. Picks are extremely valued in my league and Crabtree elicited little to no interest. I couldn't even trade 2.05 and Crabtree for 2.01.
