Nyheim Hines Thread: Extension - Beware J. Taylor?

Postby dmac37 » Fri May 04, 2018 6:53 pm

Is Hines falling under the radar too much and should he be in the same discussion with the big 8 rookie RB's? There are some draft prognosticators that really liked Hines pre-draft and he landed in a great situation.

This board has not shown much love for him, but even being undersized he may have enough inside running ability to go along with his open field receiving skills to be given a closer look in the rookie draft top 10 picks.

Any thoughts from you guys that watch these players closely entering the draft?

Top 8 rookie RB sure. He'd be 8th. After the clear 7 of Barkley, Guice, Penny, RoJo, Johnson, Michel and Chubb.

Craaaaap I keep forgetting about that guy. I knew while I was typing that I was forgetting someone.

To the OP, sorry Hines is the 9th.

Cohen was a top 30 back and I think top 5 Rookie RB, so certainly possible depending on how the other rookies play out.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

I prefer Edmonds because he’s a little bigger and has insane production to back him. Would also rather take a shot on Ballage again cause of size. Good depth chart though for Hines to be on. Can easily see his path to fantasy production.

The top 8 RBs are all in play for the 1.03 or better.

And then we can list off guys like Ballage, Hines, Wilkins, Scarborough, Edmunds, and Walton who could all be in play for the RB9 in this class (depending on personal taste), or possibly go undrafted, in a league with thin rosters.

Freaking weird year for RB. Absolutely NO middle class whatsoever.

Amen to no middle class! After the consensus & freeman. Lol

I’d be looking at ballage, hines, wilkins.

The fact Hines has ppr value & slips this far I’d give him the edge. But I’m also a believer those other two guys could usurp their competition or carve out a role. But yeah he could be getting slept on, but John Kelly could be Fantasy relevant & a late rd pick too.

Haha for real I’d say the top 8+Ridley and Moore are worse than the big six last year but better than that next tier. None of them scream elite or anything like that but all ended up in decent situations and we’re still good prospects

Even putting aside his size, Hines still needs to learn how to play running-back. I'm willing to give undersized space-backs with plus athleticism a chance, but a space-back with bad hands and no instincts is fighting an especially steep uphill battle to make it as a pro.

I'd rather bet on Wilkins. He has major issues himself, of course (presently he's allergic to contact), but I think the flaws that made him a Day 3 pick are more correctable than Hines' issues.
