CAP should only have been rostered in the deepest of leagues.

Don't think it hurts McCaffrey since he was never gonna be a bellcow.

Exactly. It helps CJA, and hurts nobody. CAP was never going to be the early down back.

I picked CJ up as a shot in the dark for next year. I definitely didnt expect him to still be on the market at this point without a team. Most NFL teams are getting really crowded now in the RB room. Off the top of my head, the places i see him fitting in are with the Dolphins solely due to prior interest and maybe the Colts? But even the Colts have a couple of rookies in the draft with Mack coming back. Outside of those places, i dont really see any other avenues for solid playing time. Maybe Carolina as a Stewart replacement. What do you guys think? Definitely turned in to slim pickings now.

I actually really like this spot and it pretty much paves the way for him to be a 2 down starter. Also believe he could get some 3rd down work with McCaffrey being on the field at the same time or playing some in the slot.
agree. sorry CAP owners.
People are still rostering CAP? In 2018?
Picked him up end of last season. Worthwhile gamble- he made it through free agency and the draft.

I think this is a solid landing spot for Anderson.

Let's start with J-Stew's 2017 stats as a baseline for Anderson: 198 carries, 680 yards (3.4 ypc) & 8 catches / 62 yards and 7 total Tds. Good enough for RB #39 in my .5 PPR league.

Now, C-Mac might be in line for a few more carries, but J-Stew missed a game, and the Panthers continue to want to limit the amount of carries for Cam. I think 200 carries is a conservative baseline for Anderson if he plays 16 games, and I think he's much more talented than J-Stew. Let's say he produces these numbers on the ground:

200 carries, 850 yards (4.25 ypc)

He won't catch a ton of passes, but I've gotta believe he catches more than the 8 that J-Stew managed last year, so let's tack on 15 catches for 120 yards, and a total of 8 TDs.

850 rushing / 15 / 120 receiving / 8 total TDs = 152.5 points, which is good enough for RB # 18 - 25 most years.

He may not offer elite upside, but I think CJA will be a solid Flex RB or borderline RB #2 in Carolina.

I would take those numbers and be completely happy with my investment for sure. And I honk those are pretty safe estimations.

Definitely. I already had him on one team and recently took him in the 15th round of a 12 Team startup draft because I thought he was worth a shot that late in the draft. I would be thrilled with those numbers.

Torn on the landing spot. On one hand there's only 1 football, and with Funchess stepping up, DJ Moore on hand, McCaffrey looking for passes it appears pickings will be slim.

On the other hand he should be RB1 on the team and will definitely get touches. With the aforementioned talent on baord there's no way the box can be stacked.

But again....there's all those hands to feed.

Kind of feel he can acheive RB2 numbers if not inconsistently.

As always...camps will tell us more.
Tom Brady, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones
Melvin Gordon, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Darwin Thompson, Sony Michel, Austin Ekelar, Damian Harris, Ty Johnson
DeAndre Hopkins, Cooper Kupp, Courtland Sutton, Michael Gallup, Julian Edleman, Allen Lazard, Phillip Dorsett
George Kittle, Mark Andrews

Really not sure how much he does this year. 21 and raw. Im thinking he's a bit of a project, although will end up being a good player, but CJA is only on a 1 year deal.

I hear ya, but every player you mentioned is a threat in the passing game. Besides Cam, Anderson is their only between-the-tackles threat on the ground, on a team that wants to run the ball.

I went through a realistic project for Anderson a few posts ago, but I do see some more upside. I think it's possible, if not realistic, that Anderson proves to be a superior runner to C-Mac, and effective enough to limit Cam's rushing attempts. My projection was a conservative 200 carries, but I could realistically see him pushing for 240 carries and 10 total TDs.

Bumping this thread because after his day today, I think he is definitely going to be in the league next year, he's going to be 28, I think, but that's not that old. What do people think?

Him and Damien Williams showing how much being on a good offense with a creative scheme can boost an otherwise average talent.

I'd lump both in the same boat for next year. Completely landing spot dependent. If they aren't on above average offenses, they'll likely fade back to obscurity.

CJA had over a 1000 yards the year before in Denver, with a poor QB situation though, so I don't think he is completely spot dependant.

Good offense and scheme are definitely a major contributor but I think CJ has had an above average career, obs now on the decline.

I think an important thing to note is that they are coming in fresh and injury free, something an RB never is (or any football player). At what appears to be 100% or close to it, and literally playing for his career, you get 'save your career, job audition effort.' And while that is probably the best he is capable of, there is still some juice there and he is still a load to take down. CJ was going super try hard, and not saying he doesn't always play hard, but there was definitely an added sense of urgency and desire to fight for every last inch. I don't know what it earns him going forward. Best case scenario is the Blount big body veteran type role that we kind of thought he would have this year. Worse case is this is his swan song.
